Intro post!
WHO: Pepa Madrigal
WHERE: Labyrinth and then the city
WHEN: April 16th
WHAT: Another Madrigal appears!
WARNINGS: n/a
The Labyrinth:
[Pepa does not understand what's going on. The last thing she remembers is being surrounded by her family. Happy. Safe
And now she was huddled in an unfamiliar building while a hurricane raged outside the doors. She assumes it's her doing. The weather usually is. So she's frantically petting her hair as she murmurs to herself.]
Clear skies... clear skies... clear skies...
[Was her family here somewhere? She had to get this under control and find them.]
The City:
[Maybe someone finds her and helps her out. Or maybe she finally plucks up the courage to brave the hurricane and escape on her own looking for her family. Either way, Pepa is in the city now. With a phone and some instructions.
Soaking wet from a hurricane, shaken up from her ordeal and very lost.]
What is going on??

Re: The city
Of course I remember you. Ay, it's good to see your face. My day has been crazy. Mirabel and Camilo have been telling me about this place and... a-and...
[And she might be crying now. Because Camilo told her about Antonio. And what is she supposed to do? Her baby doesn't remember them! Has been brainwashed!]
Ay dios mio... why is this happening to our family?
no subject
I'm glad to see you, too. [He'll just give her a little squeeze, to try and ease the crying. Deep breaths, in and out. Pepa is here, Pepa remembers him, Pepa is safe.]
I don't know. It's just been really weird for four months. Are you- [obviously she's not okay, the weather is proof she's not okay] who else did you speak to?
no subject
[But he hadn't seemed like a bad person. He'd saved her. Brought her out of the hurricane.]
Ay, Brunito, what do I do? My children have been here without me for so long... and Antonio... my little Antonito...
[Camilo told her.]

[Oh...but then she mentions Antonio and his heat sinks. He doesn't know if it's a blessing or a curse that she's aware of this already. It's...awful. He would give anything right at this moment to take away his sister's pain. To make nothing that's happened with Antonio real. ]
I'm sorry, Pepa. I'm so sorry. I- I don't know why he doesn't remember us. We're- we'll figure it out, okay? We'll...find a way to bring him back.
[He doesn't give himself to optimism a whole lot, being exposed to how utterly miserable most of the future is put paid to that. But for his sisters? He will do everything in his power to make both of them carry less weight, even if he has to carry it himself. ]

[It's a complicated feeling.]
Ai... but tell me what you've been up to? I've missed even more time with you than I already had.
no subject
[And not dealing with stuff trying to destroy them on the regular. ]
Oh, I've been...uh. Mostly existing? [Comforting!] I made some friends? Like... non-rat ones.
[Please be proud of him, Pepa, he interacted with other people and formed social bonds and everything!!]
no subject
But she tries to focus on that friend thing.]
At least some good has come of... whatever this is. Please tell me more. I could use some good news.

Well, one of them is called August- he can see the future too...kind of. He uses tarot cards. We get together with this other kid who can see the future to try and work out what's coming in this place. It's...kinda nice. Being able to talk about it.

[She's still getting her head around it but... she reaches out to cup his cheek.]
Ay, I'm so happy for you, Brunito. You deserve all the happiness in the world. You know that, don't you?
no subject
[Aww, Pepa. He manages a tired, nervy little smile.]
Gracias, mi hermana, I'm trying to uh...get used to that idea. It's a work in progress. So do you.

[He waves his hands vaguely to try and encompass all his issues in one gesture.]
It's made it so much easier. Not having to directly tell people myself.
no subject
[She squeezes his hand. Really. It does her heart good.]
Something good has come from... all of this.
no subject
[He'll return the little hand squeeze.]
It is, just small victories, you know?
