WHO: Edward Kenway and you!
WHERE: on the network (both Gemini and Libra apps)
WHEN: early to mid-August
WHAT: happy two-year anniversary, Edward Kenway!
WARNINGS: aside from blanket Assassin's Creed warnings (possible discussions of murder and historical events), nothing I can think of!
Got a couple questions for you lot! First of all: is there anything at the county fair I can try that's not pickle cheesecake on a stick? Because I've tried it, and you could not pay me enough, in gold or in weapons or anything else, to taste it again.
[In the immortal words of B. Dylan Hollis: demon quiche.]
Second, this month I'll have been here for two years now—well, two years if you don't count the time I spent back home. Time flies, don't it? [A huff.] I've found, recently, that things that would've sent my head spinning two years back don't faze me all that much anymore. Two days back someone asked me why Google Maps sent them toward the harbor instead of the water park and I told them to turn off the option for fuel efficiency—two years ago I wouldn't have even known you could get directions from a phone that way.
Anyway, what I mean to ask is, what's the moment that you realized you were used to this city and this time by now? Doesn't have to be a big moment, though I can name a few.

[These are two very different options]
And it's hard to believe it's been two years already.... feels just like yesterday we were sailing across the Atlantic together. You've really come a long way with understanding the technology though!

...give me the list of weird foods.
[A hum.]
Aye, it's been a while since then, hasn't it! I'd offer to sail across the Atlantic again, except I think I'd rather not deal with a kraken a third bloody time. [A beat.] Oh, right, you weren't there for that time with the board game.
[Yes he was, he was watching the kraken and the stampede and the Skittle rain out the window, but Edward doesn't know that.]
that meant to be voice oops
[He'll go through his notes app before reading them off]
Croffle Cloud
Hot Honey Jalapeño Popper Donut
Dirty Pancakes
Alligator Cajun Mac & Cheese Sundae
Bavarian Cream Bug Donut
Flamin’ Hot Tots
[That sure is a list.]
Ha... actually, I saw that Kraken. You could see it from the Fortress. It was... quite the surprise!

[ Gotta try everything at least once. ]
It really has been two years huh... Now look at you, an expert at navigating through Wikipedia.

[He chuckles.]
I do like Wikipedia, it's helped me catch up on plenty of things. But besides that—it's passing strange, hm? I could've sworn it was only yesterday I'd started working at the Vogue.

[ And there's a quiet giggle from her in return. ]
Time really does fly, huh. Doesn't feel like that long ago when we went on that voyage either.

- Concha Bacon Burger
- Black Bean Veggie Burger
- Wild Rice Burger
- SPAM Burger
And if you want to go for something safer for burger beginners, I recommend a cheeseburger, a bacon burger, or a crispy chicken burger.

Those are all just fancy sandwiches.
[Today he chooses to launch a hot take for shits and giggles, see what happens.]
no subject
No they're not. They're burgers.

Some of which were better than others, but she was the type to happily try almost anything...
"I dunno if there's anything like that for getting used to this place for me though. I mean, it's only a few years in the future compared to where I'm from, so it's barely different at all."

[He hums.]
I suppose that given your world, the city wasn't as much of a shock as it was for me, aye? You were already used to the fantastic, on top of the 21st century.
no subject
Hence why she was dragging poor Arjuna along to try weird fair foods with her. That's what he got for, well, being here and being easily dragged into such things.
"I mean, most of my world is pretty normal... But yeah, stuff here isn't any weirder than at Chaldea, so."

It took some time to adjust to, I suppose. [It sucks.]
As for your experience with the fair food, all I can say is that it likely does not go up from there.
no subject
Aye, American public transit's a bit lacking. Back in my day we used horse-drawn carriages to get anywhere, nowadays the roads lack a certain character with their disappearance.
[He is fucking with Lycaon for kicks.]
What, truly? It gets worse than pickle cheesecake? Damn. [A beat.] Eh, might as well see just how bad it gets.
no subject
"Lacking a certain character" ...he's going to try to fuck with Edward right back and play off those words.]
I do believe it's the horses.
[But at his question, he gives a soft hum.] I have not gone to the fair myself, but I have seen photos online as well as a summary from Miss Lia prior on what you can expect there.
Deep-Fried Kool Aid, Taco Cheesecake, Funnel Cake Cheeseburger. While I am sure they are edible, I cannot say I personally recommend.

Either way. Congratulations on remaining alive and sane.
no subject
[Alive is doubtful. Edward has died on the Event Horizon, died back home, and every moment he breathes and every beat of his heart feels—borrowed. Like he's cheating death once more. It's a strange feeling, that.]
I used to be a pirate. Sane is debatable, but I did get out of that life alive.

Congrats on modern living!
As for when I noticed being used to Kaisou living? I think when I had a late night Stardoe shift, and a pair of werecats showed up past midnight. Really cute couple. Tipped really well.
no subject
[A laugh.] Thank you, lass. I've been told I'm nearly indistinguishable from my coworkers who were born in this time, when I'm not at work.
I think I've met that couple! I gave them and their friends a tour 'round the Jackdaw the other day. One of them used the mast as a scratching post, but they tipped so fantastically well that I didn't mind.

ANYway I've never been to a county fair before so this should be a fun experience for all of us. I think there's like, FRIED stuff! I loved fried stuff. Who doesn't want a fried chocolate bar? A heath, that's who!!! Let's spend time together and eat fried chocolate bars, Ed! Do this with me!!!
video
[No he won't, he's forty and it's too confusing to keep up with the slang these days.]
Yes. I've never had a fried chocolate bar before, now I want one. You lot fry everything, it's fantastic, I've never met a people so dedicated to a single method of cooking before.
