Everyone's devices will emit a soothing wind chime sound as a new Zodiac post appears. The chime will sound even if you have your phone turned off or on silent, and will not stop until you read their messsage and comment to it.]

Hello and thank you for using the Libra app.

Happy July everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Pride season and a good summer so far! I myself had a wonderful month, as I decided to take some time off - which is the real reason for my absence! [It was not, she was in the office every day] All and all, I'd say it was a wonderful start to the summer!

Anyway, enough about me- time for some announcements! The Kaisou Anime Convention will be happening at the Civic Center this weekend! The convention will be taking place every weekend, and there will be several family friendly panels sponsored by Zodiac- so dress up like your favorite ninjas and animes and check it out!

Also, this friday please come check out the firework show in Blue Fish Park! Zodiac is one of the many sponsors and we're excited to light up the night sky for the holiday! Please don't let the weather forecasts of heavy downpours all weekend be enough to discourage you! You gotta try to think positive after all!

I have heard of that trend as well, though I do not understand why. Have so many forgotten the internet advice to "not feed the trolls"?

Zodiac does love an opportunity to capitalize. Honesty about their intent is better than the alternative, but I do wonder-

Can a hot take truly be made on command? Such arguments seem more impulsive.

It does seem to be the case. If you search 'Hot Take' online you can find many forum posts that say "Hot Take:" and then their opinion. So it must be like this post here.

Yes. That is the definition when used in an online space. While not only through arguments, trolls are those who deliberately provoke others for a reaction.

In some cases, the word is changed into a verb: to troll, or trolling.

[Eve is not terribly online, to be honest. But she has learned some from her meme lessons. And she loves to share knowledge.]

That might be so, but weren't those posts made by the person hoping to share their 'Hot Take?' In other words, no one was asking them to do that. It was a spontaneous decision.

With Zodiac asking for one on the spot, I wonder how genuine the results will be.

Ah, that is a good point. Zodiac was just collecting information, though I suppose that could be farming in itself.

It's hard to tell what their goal really is.

I understand there is money in data collection, though I don't know how lucrative arguments about food could be. Whether they'd risk using our data that way after the last incident, that is more debatable.

Of course they could just be looking for engagement for engagement's sake. This is their app after all. Wanting it to do well would be expected.

Perhaps with it being summer, many people are spending it outdoors and less on social media. It's possible they want to keep the numbers up with the least amount of effort imaginable.

One can only guess.
