[There are many ways Neph could go about this. It would probably be more proper if he reached out directly to his son, or to other Black Order members in town, letting everyone know that he's arrived and is setting up to be based here for a while. But he honestly does want to know how Asch has really been doing, and he isn't going to find that out just by asking people who know both of them already, or giving people time to prepare stories.

I do hope you all might indulge a concerned father for a moment. You see, some months back, my son Asch moved to this city. Now, he's a wonderful young man, but very independent, and he doesn't always come to me when he has problems. So if anyone can tell me honestly how he's been doing in his time here, I'd very much appreciate hearing it! Now that my work has transferred me here as well, I hope that we can all get along more closely.

Oh, well, that does explain the carelessness, actually. He really has no restraint at all when Luke's involved. Though I do have to wonder what Luke was keeping in his wallet, to catch a fox's interest.

Who knows? There are kitsune around that like to cause mischief, so I can't deny the possibility that one of them is having a laugh.

[Not that Harumasa particularly cares if Nephrite knows the fox was a person. The guy's as cagey as his smile. If it's amusing enough, he might not say shit. This much is knowledge that he benefits from his visions into Luke's past life back a long time ago.

[Oof. He did grow up with VHS tapes, of course, and switched to DVD when that became the dominant format just like everyone else of his generation. But getting defensive will only play into the taunt.]

Analog format has charms you simply won't find in modern releases~ Knowing someone who can appreciate that is more than enough reason to stop by from time to time.

Sadly, I wore mine out long ago, and they're simply impossible to find these days. [He sighs and shakes his head melodramatically.] How will the youths of tomorrow learn the joys of inventing wild conspiracy theories if they have no tapes to play backward? It's really a terrible shame, the things later generations have been deprived of.
