Fortress of Meropide Mingle

It's gonna be May! The weather is now warm, so the chill that was around the Fortress has finally ebbed away. The garden in the serenitea pot is still available for those who want to enjoy some outdoors and the plant life there- though the island containing the peach trees has had a significant upgrade in security, and the light bridge is completely destroyed- best avoid that area if you can! Slammer seals are also in the harbour now, adding to the fauna you might come across above ground before you enter the fortress itself.

As for other upgrades (Fuckass) Alley has more room now, with a renovation giving that corner of the fortress a little extra to enjoy. There is also a new Workshop for August and his tailoring. There's been a new addition to the community in Lighter and finally, one of the residential wings of the fortress now has a randomiser area. Perhaps today you will find a pleasant study and a wine cellar. Perhaps tomorrow it will be a rumpus room and a ballroom. Trying to navigate it is near impossible as it changes daily - try not to get lost!

[Varian knows Jun has never made a big deal about college, an unfathomable concept for Varian himself, and he also knows his fiancee wants to lay low around the whole actually graduating thing. So Varian has respected those wishes and not made a big, public deal about it. But that doesn't mean he won't do anything himself, personally, because he is Jun's partner and it is his right to be proud of his accomplishments.

So when he sees Jun sitting there with his cupcakes, he walks over, pressing a gentle kiss on his partner's forehead, before pulling out a small, wrapped parcel, placing it carefully in front of him.]

Hey there, graduate. I got you a little something.

[Jun is very well aware that Varian is more invested in college than he's ever been. And honestly, it does make Jun happy to see Varian enjoying school as much as he does. That he gets a chance to study and to be around peers that have the same academic interests than him. And it's not like Jun doesn't enjoy learning - he wouldn't do as well as he does in POKEGO if he felt that way. It's just... his fields of interest weren't exactly taught in universities. At a certain point, sitting through his mundane classes had just become another mission to complete before he could commit himself to stuff he actually cared about- not much more.

Still... he's not surprised Varian would try to do something for him. He'll smile when he sees his fiance and receives the kiss, setting aside his cupcake to address him]

Hey. Thank you... You didn't have to do that.

[He says that but he knows Varian does what he wants]

[Varian adores being able to learn. Being able to go to any sort of school at all was an unfathomable idea for him before he came to Kaisou. Formal education was for the nobility, not a farm boy from the edges of the kingdom. Varian was self-taught for so much of his life, having no peers to bounce his ideas off (or get competitive against, he SEES you, Alex Dunphy ) and having the chance to do so now is wonderful.

But he knows he has intense interest in the sort of education college provides. It's a little different for Jun and he can support that- Jun knew what he wanted now, and he was shaping up to be an amazing botanist for POKEGO. And that's what mattered. ]

I know, but I did it anyway. It's nothing big, just a little something to mark the occasion.

[ And for once it really isn't anything big. Inside the present, Jun will find a botany themedthemos flask inside. ]

See? I figured you could use it while you're busy with your plants.

Haha, you're sweet.

[He'll give him a quick kiss on the cheek before he goes to open the present. When he does, his eyes light up. Oh, this is definitely useful]

Oh, I love it! Haha, you're right, it'll be perfect to have along when I'm working.

Thanks Var. [Truly] Do you want a cupcake? I got a couple chocolate ones for you.

Well, you deserve a treat for graduating! Plus I'm... I'm never gonna miss out the chance to give you a treat if I can.

[Jun chose his Disney ass self to be with and this is the result of that. The love language of gifts will never stop. Never. He smiles at the kiss, brightening even more when the present lands well. ]

That's what I thought! And I figured, well, now you get to really enjoy your botany now you're through which school, so why not really lean into that?

[ He laughs, leaning into the box of cupcakes to pluck himself up a chocolate one. ]

You know I can never resist the siren call of chocolate! Thanks for getting me some, mein herz.

[ He takes a bite out of it, making a happy noise at it. ]

S'good! So, how're you feeling? It's a pretty big step!

[He gives a fond laugh]

Well as long as I get to treat you in return. Once you're done with your finals, let me take you out for dinner, okay?

[Because accomplishing his first year of college is a big deal! ]

Haha, don't mention it. [He's just happy seeing his partner enjoying himself] As for me... mostly I'm just happy and relieved it's over. It was getting a little difficult balancing school and my duties at the same time.

Oh, well that sounds like a fair trade off. Okay, dinner's on you. It'll be something for me to look forward to. [He says as if he's not looking forward to his finals like the workaholic nerd he is. ] Can we go to The Prancing Pony? It reminds me of The Snuggly Duckling.

[Right down to the hearty food and the very obvious criminals spending time there. ]

Oh yeah, you had a lot on your plate. I'm really proud of you for managing it all. Now you can just let out a deep breath and not have to worry about lectures or exams ever again. That's gotta feel good, right?
