WHO: Kunikaki and you

WHEN: End of March
WHAT: Prophecy Time!
WARNINGS: Swearing?

[Welcome back to Kuni Filming Himself Doing Something Because Fucking Vision. This time it is not baking.

It is woodworking. He seems to be making a handle for something? He's not the best but he is learning.]

Once again, we have visions because of course we do. [He glances down at a list.]

Our tarot reader got Magician reversed, which they say means "manipulation, greed, unused ability, untrustworthiness, trickery, conniving, cunning, lack of mental clarity". Photo Trance Girl had a bunch of stars, and Bailey said it might mean Star upright, which means things like hope, inspiration, creativity, calm, contentment, renewal, serenity, spirituality, healing, and positivity. The dragon had "a sense of foreboding", the unlucky shopper said all of his screens were just. Cherry blossoms? For some reason?

[Don't ask him.]

The smoker got rabbits and the old lady had more eggs, and we're not sure if that's not leftover from this month. Bar--Venti also mentioned cherry blossoms...and the other two mentioned an annoying-ass sound, which I can't and won't replicate.

[He doesn't seem inclined to mention anything for a bit longer. Eventually, he sighs.]

Yes, I saw something but no, I'm not going to tell anyone what it is. Just that it was bad and hard to explain.

[How do you explain "my matcha powder showed me myself, surrounded by nothing but gravestones" and how that feels to a bunch of people? You don't.]

Twice, it would seem, is a pattern. This month, the book I was compelled to pick up is titled Tooth and Nail: The Story of the Rabbit in Australia. I wrote down the following lines:

"Arguably, the Easter Bunny is more familiar than the Resurrection. In Australia, the rabbit has survived drought, fire, flood, diseases, predators, poisons, and other stratagems devised by man and remains this country's most serious vertebrate pest."

Although I find the concept of future visions irritating, knowledge cannot be rejected merely because it is inconvenient to one's worldview. I must reluctantly acknowledge that these compulsions seem to fit in alongside the predictions of others who are known to have such powers.

[Last month Bailey mentioned a groupchat...?]

[And speak of the devil, an invite to the seer groupchat courtesy of Bailey.]

Here. It's annoying, but having some scraps of information on what to brace for helps.

[Even if they only become obvious in hindsight.]

Thank you, Bailey. I suppose I can't disagree that having some forewarning, however vague, is useful.

[He does wish he wasn't being compelled to participate in it, but them's the breaks.]

I just wish it was a little more immediately useful than "this is much more obvious in hindsight".

Rabbits and eggs can hardly be surprising predictions for the season, in any case. Perhaps next month I'll have something less trite to offer.

True.

We'll just have to see. At least your way of getting your predictions is interesting.
mediocrites: (≸ to set the world on fire)

[personal profile] mediocrites 2025-03-27 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
I recognize that this is only marginally more predictive than looking at the seasonal decor aisle of any given supermarket.

Anyone who's passingly familiar with the concept of invasive species, I believe. It's one of the more well-known instances, particularly for how widespread and persistent the problem is. As noted in the excerpt, they've adapted unfortunately well to their new environment and wreaked havoc on the local ecosystem.

Hopefully that isn't an indication of what we're facing.

Not in the slightest. Ordinary rabbits in sufficient numbers can be more than damaging enough to cause chaos.

[Please don't invoke such things.]

[How do they keep getting more??? Takame will do his duty but also seven hells...]

Indeed, two is a pattern. I thought the same of the dreams I had the first time until I had it confirmed in the subsequent month. 'Tis outrageous enough at times that I initially attributed it to exhaustion or illness. I regret to say it may happen quite often to you...

What you have seen will no less give us some understanding of what is to come, ser. I see that you are familiar with Bailey, but my name is Takame. I am among the more seasoned seers within this city. So to speak.

I'm sure I'll adjust well enough given time. [He's gotten used to so many weird things since he got on the network.]

A coordinator of sorts, then? My name is Dr. Veritas Ratio. I'm a professor at Kaisou University; Bailey is one of my students.

[personal profile] hoshikiri 2025-03-27 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a coordinator. 'Tis more accurate to say I am merely a point of contact.

[Any coordination Takame has done was because he had the title of Warrior of Light and mostly it was Alphinaud or Lyse or G'raha or anyone else actually leading the way.]

I see. I am an instructor at Cygnus Academy, though I've not paid the University a proper visit in some time. Regardless, your contributions in the coming months will be most appreciated.

[good heavens such a polite and modest man]

I'm familiar with some of the Cygnus instructors. [Mostly Waver.] It's good to meet you, although I'd have preferred other circumstances.

A curse to one person may be a blessing to another, so it is said. Varying perspectives aside though, welcome to our group of individuals will perhaps an excess of foresight. As a consolation prize, I extend to you an open invitation for tea.

That's very courteous of you, I'm sure. [A social butterfly he is not, and he's not likely to take Nito up on the offer anytime soon, but who knows?]

I can't say this 'blessing' is entirely unexpected, but...well, there's no point in lamenting what might have been. At least it's minimally disruptive so far.

Courtesy? Hm. Perhaps. Or perhaps not. Offering respite is simply part of my nature.

Still, tis good to hear your newfound power is a minimal burden as of yet.
