WHAT: hey guys what are these sea critters in the harbor.
WARNINGS: none in the post itself!

[The very top of Edward’s head can be seen in the video—he’s angling his phone to show what looks like a green manta ray peeking out of the waters before it slips back down into the depths.]

So, I’ve no idea what’s happened in the harbor, but I went to the Jackdaw today and there are new animals hanging about. I’m certain they’re not Pokémon, and a few are similar to animals I know about, but not quite right.

All I need to know is, could they pose a danger to me while I’m diving?

As for their danger, well. Depends on which ones, and how close you get.

I don’t plan to get too close to them, I just want to know if they’ll leave me alone in turn should I go diving.

It looks well enough to me, but then it preferred not to stay in my company too long. Understandable.

Oh, don’t worry so much over me, I’ve dived in these waters many times already and they haven’t killed me yet.

The sea has never been my area of expertise, but I believe those are a sort of ray. It might be wise to check if those are the sort with barbs. Just in case.

She’s a ship, a boat’s much smaller than that—and anyway, I don’t live on the Jackdaw. I’ve too many animals to make that feasible, I have a house.

As you say. [She's so dismissive about it, sorry Edward, the SEA has always been Posieon's area. ] And you colour me surprised. I suppose there really wouldn't be much room for animals on it.

My point still stands about fighting for your territory, though.

Aye, even without much of a crew, there’s not enough room for all of them to run around.

The harbor’s not my territory, it’s just where I work. So long as they don’t try to sink the Jackdaw I’ll be glad enough to leave them alone.

[He’s got no need to hunt them for food or crafting materials, so.]

I mean, I'd consider it my territory, as your ship is there. [But also she's a slightly unhinged God, so. ] I suppose, if you insist. They do not sound like they're doing much harm.

[There's a beat where he actually has to think about it. Does he count Clippy? Does he count Conrad the Persona? What about Kidd the Pod? Eventually he settles on:] I'd say around seven or eight, depending if this magic bag I have decides to spit out another wild and angry animal.

[That's a lot of animals.]

If we're following that logic, it'd also be the territory of every yacht owner and fisherman keeping their boats in the harbor. And that would get very ugly very quickly. [A shrug.] They're really not. The seals are a bit strange, never saw one with horns before, but I'll get used to it.

...I see, that is a considerably large number. Does the animal in your bag fight for you or does it attempt to attack you? I feel that is an important distinction to make.

You're telling me? I didn't set out to have a menagerie when I got here, yet somehow I've gained one. [He pauses.] Usually it tries its best to kill me, but I've always gotten the first stab or shot in before it can.

Not at all, no. The docks belong to everyone who uses it, and that includes these sea creatures. [He huffs out a breath, and wryly says:] You think they're strange, wait until you go underwater and run into the talking crab. Bastard's stolen my rum.

Yes, I have noticed that... odd little shop tends to give strange items out. I have a pile of things I really never would have picked for myself. [But she did get some nice swords and she likes those! ] So... you have a beast that actively tries to murder you when you open the bag? Have you thought about... not opening the bag?

[ HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT JUST NOT DOING THAT, EDWARD?]

...There's. A talking crab. [Like, talking animals isn't a massive leap but it's usually because they've had something done ot them or it was Zeus being horny again. ] What does the crab want with your rum?

“Odd” is putting it lightly. That shopkeeper managed to get a load of things out to my ship in the middle of the ocean, once. Which is how I got the bag, now that I think about it. [A chuckle.] Why would I? It’s a free supply of meat and pelts!

[There is something wrong with you, Edward.]

Who knows? Crab’s a damned opportunist. [He’d find it more admirable if it wasn’t his fucking rum that got stolen.] A friend of mine held an intervention and threw most of my rum overboard, and what didn’t break on the way down was picked up by that bloody crab. I went down to talk to him, [a lie, he went down to sneakily steal his shit back and failed because of the anti-Plankton measures,] and he threw me out of his restaurant!

He just... dropped the magical beast bag on your ship in the middle of the ocean? [That sounds like the sort of shit Pan would pull, honestly. He'd think it was funny.

The bag and plenty other things. I wasn't the only one, you can ask around—quite a few other people were on the Jackdaw with me at the time.

[They can also attest to Edward being exceedingly gleeful at the prospect of hunting down bears. Twice.]

Aye. It's quite the rush. Cheaper than going to the butcher, too. [It's not that ridiculous, he's good at hunting and skinning animals, he's gotta keep his hand in somehow.]

Just a tad shorter than me. [He cracks a wry smile.] I've long stopped questioning these things too much. All I know is, the crab's a fucking thief and I mean to get my rum back from him.

[ No one has room for disbelief when this place just has things happen with little to no logic about it. ]

I suppose so, if you want to eat... bear meat. And fight a bear to get it. Whatever floats your boat, I think the turn of phrase is.

I see. These sort of creatures can be difficult to reason with, it's true. You are probably best assuming the rum is gone forever.
