Still not dead, the post's just late because I decided to take a few extra days off.

How long have you known about magic, Faye? I’m trying to figure out how many excuses I made that you saw through immediately.

Since not long after I turned 6. Between magic and ghosts, it's been easier not to talk about it.

So all the times that something strange happened on the ship and I said something about special effects and those theme park robots and whatever else I could think up off the top of my head…

I knew what was really happening, yeah. The stories were all so fun to hear though, so... I'm sorry.

Bloody fucking hell, I need a strong drink that don’t taste like vinegar. Hours I was spending on trying to come up with believable stories. Hours.

I'm not sure I'd call it wasted either way. Since at least in the future you have some stories already prepared just in case, right?

I suppose. It's still a damned shock and one I will need time to recover from. [No he doesn't he's just being a little bitch. Last time someone kept a secret like this from him he recovered pretty fast.] So how obvious was it I knew barely anything about animatronics?

Well... maybe about as obvious as it was that I didn't know much about ships when I started?

To be fair, I didn't know much about ships neither, when I was a young man serving onboard my first ship. It took years until I became captain of my own ship, and that was as a pirate and not a privateer.

I had felt a little silly, only knowing some of the terminology and never having set foot on a ship before. Since then, I've improved, haven't I?

That was probably not much different from learning new things for your stories, don't you think?

Something like that, aye. And for once neither of us had to learn these things while at sea and under threat. This has been downright relaxing, really, despite the Dark Hour.

Although now what am I going to do with this book on puppetry I've ordered from Barnes & Noble?

Sometimes it really is all about the small victories.

Well you probably have a few options. It could be interesting to keep learning about these things, since you already started with the stories. Otherwise they might accept returns? If not, then donating it or giving it away would be the two options left that I can think of right now.

I suppose I’ll keep it then, so that if I ever have to hire another intern, at least I’ll have better lies to tell them. That is, if they’re not also already aware of the supernatural.

Your luck would look pretty strange if all of your interns were familiar with supernatural things. I don't know if it's good or bad luck.

I'd hope it's good luck, considering the kind of shite that happens in this city so often.

It's definitely started to sound like bad luck is all around, so we can just hope our own is good, right?
