[ As the air to a bird or the sea to a fish, so is contempt to the contemptible. ]
WHO: Vergil, Dante, and You.
WHERE: Libra app.
WHEN: Morning of May 10th.
WHAT: Wolfwood's gone and there's blood everywhere.
WARNINGS: tws for mild violence bc hoo boy.
[ why is it usually always the morning when Vergil addresses the network? It's like some sort of running Habit.
But this time it isn't some awkward text message or ask, some stuffily delivered lines with a reluctance to come out with what he's struggling with.
No.
It's a sort of painful to look at sight, as the video is a slow pan over the front of his antiques shop. The front window behind where the silver-haired bookish demon can usually be found has been smashed--outward, for the observant, which means whatever broke it came from inside.
On the sidewalk in front of said window, there's a splattering of blood. Bright crimson in some places, a brackish black in others.
a certain large Cross-Shaped gun is half-hanging out the window, seemingly left behind; dropped suddenly as its owner seems to have just... disappeared. ]
My CCTV cameras were all wrapped in strange paper. The video feed from them show nothing but a single dark, painted eye.
I hear voices on the feed, but most of them are muffled. I know for sure one is of my deliveryman. Nicholas D. Wolfwood.
There are bullets littering the inside of the shop. He broke open no less than three of the display cases.
I'm certain there's other things broken, but for now, that is not important.
[ there's a shout from behind the camera, one of a different demon--filled with a passionate, almost growling rage. What's important is one of those Order dickheads waltz onto our turf and took Nick!
Vergil sighs. ]
The ones behind this are getting sloppier. There's demonic blood everywhere. And I am most certain this is our 'fourth victim'.
I was there when we rescued Fugo. If the demon who did this is listening...
You will not walk away from this one with your life.
And it will not even be me who threatens it.

[Stuck with nothing to do and her nervous system going haywire, not unlike the darkness of the other-space closet they had been shoved into when Vergil was taken. But Nicolas had been there, a steady presence. And now he's gone.]
Demons again...?
[Is it possible to sound both freaked out and exasperated at the same time? No offense uncles, but why does this keep happening]
Then he's alive. He has to be.
[He has to be.]
I have seen one before. A year ago, when this phenomenon first happened.
A maze with a cruel copy of the one trapped.

[ it isn't that he doesn't doubt her, it's just surprising that the Order would re-use old tricks. Pathetic, really. He finds himself rolling his eyes. ]
I recently rescued a boy who works at my shop from a place just like that.
I fully believe that we will find Wolfwood in one such place as well, soon enough.

[A shakey breath, then she pushes forward, letting the Task of explaining distract her]
Last year we visited a place which offered us money or a peach of immortally as a reward. I picked money, but somehow Zodiac managed to get a peach. Their leaders were turning into demons then, so people didn't want them to become immortal too.
The Order also didn't want them to have that peach. So they offered to give us an opening to retrieve it with fancy tech and requested volunteers from the app to help.
Something went wrong, and while a way into Zodiac opened up, the volunteers... and my friend... got caught in those labyrinths.

[ he listens, of course, with a quiet sense of understanding that this was something that she'd experienced and it went badly. He will in such case allow her to fully explain it without interrupting or asking questions--which is rare for Vergil and the inquisitive mind that he is.
He finally nods when she's finished. ]
I am a half demon myself, but I will not lie when I say most other demons aren't to be trusted. Not wanting them to have a key to immortality was a smart move.
The price paid however...
Hm.
At the very least. If this is truly something that's happened in the past, then it would equip those who have experienced it once before to rescue the current victims. Yes?

[She knows the bigger reason, that demons killed their mom. But that still counts as 'no good.']
The price was unexpected. Even the Black Order volunteer got pulled in.
But yes, now we know.
There will be a few days wait, a message from a hostile look-alike, then the gate will appear. Not unlike the maze we offworlders arrive in, but with more puzzles and battles to reach to person trapped.
[And then they must face them, the dark copy of their friend.]
