WHO: Hiccup and everyone on the app!
WHERE: His now sufficiently destroyed dorm room :( (how is he going to explain this to anyone???)
WHEN: 3/21 evening
WHAT: There was a dragon once when I was a boy... and it ate my paper
WARNINGS: N/A
[ It's been a long day for one Hiccup Kullersen. A really long day that started the usual way, unhappy headaches at voices and images as soon as he stepped out of his dormroom. He's gotten a little better at handling it, but some days take a toll — Maybe it's the random app appearing on his phone. Maybe it's the way the weather around him suddenly decided to take a change.
Take now, for example, after a particularly long lecture and a disappointing call with his father having him trail back to his room while literal thunder cracks over his head but it doesn't seem to be anyone else's problem. Just his. Like normal.
He's drenched and uncertain how long until his phone short circuits as he makes it back to his room, flicking through the new app before deciding to dd his own response to it. So it starts: ]
From the looks of things, I'm not the only one finding this strange app on my phone.
I guess it's not any stranger than usual around here but has it... Been weirder for anyone else here lat—
[ The text stops abruptly and is sent before he can notice. As when the post changes it's to the sounds of crackling thunder, the ceiling of a room (does that look like a cloud??? rain? surely not, it's a room!) And the sounds of utter confused terror: ]
What the — ?! How did you get in my room — [ The sound of chittering, like that of a small animal. Then low growling as something hops in the shadow of the screen ] — No, stay back! What are you... Please don't touch that, it's due tomorrow — No, don't eat— of course you're going to eat it.
[ The sound of something gulping it down in the background is met with the sudden downfall of a sprin storm. Something — someone? — seems to collapse in apparent defeat in the background. ]
Yep, this day just keeps getting better.
[ For the viewer at home, they get one glimpse of a very curious dog sized dragon before it decides that the phone must be food and tries to take a bite of it. The screen goes black afterwards. Hiccup will be back... Eventually. ]

We just had to... Figure some things out.
Explaining the condition of my phone to the cellphone repair guy was the highlight of my day though.

He only broke the screen and dented the back a little. Turns out, cellphones don't taste good. But there was also a lot of water and uh...
I said a wayward alligator got to it when I went canoeing?

Hey, uh...You still there? You okay?

At least his clothes are dry, for now. ]
Okay in what way? Physically, I'm plus a few more bonus scars for "cool points". [The way he says it, in paranthesis, is as if he doesn't find it cool at all. ] Mentally, not excited to explain to the Dean what happened and probably get kicked out of a dorm far, far away from home. That'll be a great call with my father.
But otherwise; it's a nice spring day. The sun is shining and the terrible terrors are singing.

She also feels that the response "okay in that you're not dead way" is probably not the best answer, so she decides to just skip that. ]
Guess trying to explain that a dragon messed up your room won't work out too well.
Is it...still around?

[ Rain he still hasn't figured out why it appeared in the least or managed. Thankfully, his freak rainstorms aren't bothering him right now. It's just very windy -- Which is not helpful in a different way.
It keeps him unfocused as the images spill over his mind and he has to shake his head. ]
Oh, him? [ A questioning sound of surprise before Hiccup adjusts the camera downwards-- The dragon is definitely there, curled up like a cat taking a nap, purring lightly. ] We worked it out. I don't think he's interested in going somewhere anytime soon.
no subject
[ When the camera moves to show the dragon, she can't help wincing a little, despite the fact the dragon wasn't even...doing anything. ]
So he's just, uh...there? He won't...hurt anyone, will he?
no subject
[ One he doesn't sound pleased about, but then when your entire life gets upturned in a single day and suddenly you're dealing with the potentiality of losing your home due to said upturning... There's only so much a little sarcasm and humor can go.
At least he doesn't seem mad at the dragon??? Who seems to happily curl further into his leg as he heaves a sigh and shrugs his shoulders, turning the camera back: ]
I mean he hasn't tried to hurt me, but I think... He knows me somehow? He's upset at me not anyone else.
[ Apparently not so upset as to leave his side, but that's of no concern to him right now. ]
no subject
When it, uh...when it started raining around you and stuff...was there anything else going on that day? Did anything else happen?
[ She can't help another face, though she is a little relieved when the camera shifts away from the dragon. ]
So...he's kind of your friend then?
[ If she sounds a bit skeptical, it's only because she's had a bad run-in with a dragon recently. ]
no subject
[ Except he hadn't started having weather powers before, but it's not like he knows anything about that. ]
Kind of. We've come to an agreement he's not eating any of my papers again, so that's a start.
Strange you guys see him, though, most people seem to think he's a weird looking bird.
no subject
[ She knows it might be a bit personal to be asking, but...if it's what she was thinking of... ]
Wait, really? People think that's a bird?
[ How? ]
no subject
[ Plans that Hiccup derailed by taking his scholarship to Kaisou to
get awaysee the world without his dad watching. So it's a point of argument, one Hiccup's not thrilled with continuing soon: ]Yep, pretty funny looking for a bird right? [ At least his small grin is mild: ] Your guess is as good as mine on why.
no subject
[ She really only has one reference to really draw from, but it was an idea, at least. ]
Yeah, that's pretty weird. [ She considers that for a moment. ] Maybe it's something about this place? There are some things that people don't really seem to notice, or see as something else.
[ Like a magical house, or a few cursed people. ]
no subject
[ Hiccup nodded, brows furrowing: ] Yeah, I noticed. Especially lately. Back on the islands everyone just said I was crazy, though.
[ Which maybe he was, he doesn't sound like he's counting it out. It's what happens with a lifetime of hearing voices on the wind. ]
no subject
Really? Why would they say that?
no subject
[ There's a touch of wariness to his voice, as he resettles. Sitting more upright than the slight lean into the bench as he folded an arm against his knee to keep the camera stable: ]
It's just... You know. Seeing pictures and hearing voices of people... Things, nearby. For a long time it was just voices, so I thought I was going insane too but they're — they're not.
no subject
[ She isn't doubting what he's saying is true. If anything, it sounds a bit too familiar. ]
no subject
I mean it's not like I see the future — it's the present? And it's rarely anything very useful. Sometimes it's a dog down the street using the bathroom or someone trying to make a sale... Other times it's a couple in a side street getting — well you get the idea.

Just got to keep working on it... And hopefully not lose any more body parts in the process.
no subject
But...even if you don't find much use for it, I don't think it'd be the end of the world.
[ That is still a lesson she's trying to learn herself. That not everything has to be useful. ]
Not lose - wait, what?
[ Hiccup you can't just throw that at someone. ]
no subject
True. But even so, I'd like to find some use for it. If not for anyone else but me. There's got to be some reason for everything.
[ He can when it's just!!! Daily life!! And not a surprise to him at all, after all. It's been years, he's not bothered by it:]
Oh, don't worry. After the first one, I've been extra careful! Sort of. I still didn't see what did it so I spent a couple weeks looking — Anyway, that doesn't matter, point is I did learn not to go following voices in my head.
[ It just took a leg, it's fine. Much less exciting then by dragon fire. ]
no subject
[ That's pretty much been her whole life, honestly. ]
Uh...okay? [ She can't help feeling a bit concerned, especially since he didn't know how it happened. ]
video
Is that some kind of dragon Pokemon?
video
Dragon? Yes, definitely. Pokemon? I'm... Not sure what that it is, so no? Maybe?
video
... Hello? Are you still there?
video
Yeah, we're both still here. For now.
[ His voice lowers, more to himself than her. The words 'Until my dad finds out,' are easy to make out as he glances away and down out of habit. Thinking about his father and his responses aren't always Great. ]
