--- [ COLD LOCKDOWN ] __// network post
WHO: Wriothesley + Libra App
WHERE: Libra App
WHEN: Dec. 18th
WHAT: Someone woke up feeling Weird
WARNINGS: Sillyness, generally.
Video: un: TheDuke
[ the image is, at first, sort of janky, giving the first few moments of the video recording a nice close up of The Duke's face--but a few moments later the video is zooming out--the camera becoming hands-free as Wriothesley--dressed in a much spikier outfit--has managed to, somehow, attach his phone to ...what seems to be some sort of floating device that's holding the phone for him.
While he doesn't smile--he does wave. ]
...This coming in clear? Good. I'm still getting used to this world's technology. One day at a time.
Anyway. Wriothesley here. Been doing a lot of reading and research on this world. There's a few big holidays coming up that you all call 'Christmas,' and 'Hanukkah', and stuff, yeah?
Everything's decorated, there's fat red men in coats in all the windows. I don't really get it; but.
Woke up feeling weirdly generous with my time, since I have so much of it, lately, what with how I've recently become unemployed.
So, here's my offer. If any of you guys need something delivered or ran around town, give me a call. I'll make the delivery for you. I recently got this thing-- [ he jerks a thumb behind him--at a rather sleek looking motorcycle sits on display. ] And it's great for getting around.
Seriously, if you need anything done. I'm really in the mood to help out. Free of charge, too. I just want something to do, you know? Give me a call.
[ the fact that the duke suddenly has longer, pointier ears is definitely part of your imagination. ]

Yup, yeah that's right. BIG holidays in this dimension. There's gifts and everything!
[Okay that's got to be enough small talk, right?]
What did you attach your phone to? Is that some sort of drone?
no subject
Lot of kids seem invested in it, too. Always good to see.
[ small talk plenty out of the way. Wish granted--Wrio raises an eyebrow and takes a moment to take the phone off where he had it carefully hooked--a muffled sight of the duke's hand for a second before he turns it around, giving Varian a full look of the helicopter-ing little droid that looked like it was pulled straight out of a steampunk magazine. ]
This little guy? I picked him up when I was about fourteen. He was an abandoned piece of junk, and I fixed him up to do some odd jobs for me. Meet Cashflow Supervision.
[ the drone's eye sort of flicks and whirs in an oddly grinding way but. otherwise it ... shows no real intelligence. ]
no subject
[Because obviously, he's not a kid anymore. Obviously.
Varian lets out a soft little gasp, peering closer at his screen as if that will let him take in ALL the glory of the machine. ]
That's AMAZING! How does he hover? Is it some sort of airflow system? Does he have weight limitations? I LOVE the design! It's SO cool! I made an army of automatons when I was fourteen so I get it!
[TWINSIES!!! Okay so he built and army of them to try and take over the kingdom and murder the royal family but you know. Details. ]
no subject
He's now got a battery that can either be plugged in, or powered via solar energy. Clever technology, that.
[ he talks very quickly, his hands moving as he visualizes how he'd taken it apart--plucking Cashflow out of the air to show off the panels in the back that'd been replaced. ]
He locomotes via the propeller on his head, here--it spins fast and keeps him airborne.
no subject
YEAH! I managed to fix together solar and wind technology to power a pirate ship that's in port- I was pretty proud of that. It's really clever, the future's amazing for that.
[He loves having people to talk shop with, this is a great time.]
Fascinating! How did you manage to keep it stable? Does the power of the propeller make its flight unsteady in any way?
no subject
It's ... something to work with. Using the power of your sun though? I agree, is pretty impressive.
[ it's fantastic having fellow nerds around--especially given that Wrio doesn't often HAVE people to talk to about this sort of thing. Lonely down in his jail. ]
It's got a counterbalance in the bottom of its chassis, here. Whenever the propeller spins too quickly or it loses balance, the weights inside shift to make sure it stays up in the air.
Truth be told, I didn't design it--I found it abandoned and repurposed it and fixed it up for my own use. So I can't take credit for it.
no subject
Right! And it stores the power throughout the day, so if you need a light to work at night, it can get all the power during the day and then switch on when you need it most. I love it.
[Boy would he and Varian have a lot to talk about there. Both the lack of other science folks and also the. Y'know. Jail thing. Varian whistles softly, impressed.]
That's really clever! I'll remember that. And yeah, I get that. I ended up using and then...uh improving on some designs a really famous inventor did in my world, too. Sometimes you need to adapt things that came from somewhere else. It kinda means they and their work gets to live on and grow forever, right?
action;
Weird would be putting it lightly, my dear Duke. After so many years of dodging reporters from the Steambird you now suddenly feel generous with your time and attention. What a shame that Charlotte is nowhere to be seen to take advantage of such a rare opportunity!
[ she spares a glance to the motorcycle behind him, amusement fading for a mix of curiosity and uncertainty. ]
Are you certain you mastered how to ride that thing?
no subject
[ doing work for people was easy. being in the spotlight of that giant Kamera? Not so much. Hard pass. ]
And I've pretty much figured it out. It's not too complicated, truth speaking. Just gotta' make sure to be careful with the turns.
I've built more complicated things back in Fontaine.
no subject
[ how different their relationship is now than it was when they first arrived. how different they both were. seemingly finished with her tea, furina stands up and walks toward him, mismatched gaze glancing briefly towards his ears. they look like neuvillette's except maybe a fraction longer. ]
But were any of those things capable of moving at such frightening speeds? [ not that she is doubting his abilities! ] What if you aren't careful with the turns!? I cannot have you smeared across the ground like some sort of red smear.
no subject
[ he shrugs a bit, taking his phone off from where it was hooked onto the front of Cashflow, flipping it around to keep an eye on any responses that came in. ]
And well, no. That's why I took a few days to get used to how fast this thing is.
I drove it pretty slow, at first.
[ he has a very small, wry smile. ]
If you're worried, I could take you for a ride.
I'll go at a speed where we won't become smears. Promise.
no subject
[ she seems more confident with those words now as if she has accepted the impact that role has had on her and how it changed her.
she shifts her weight, looking between the bike and wriothesley, as she tosses up his words. he could take her for a ride, he already knows how to work it so maybe... she cannot lie and say she isn't interested. ]
Yes, you should take me for a ride. I am curious to see how you have mastered it!
no subject
He's not sure how he'd feel if he were put in the same position. Emotions are hard to talk about--so he just doesn't. He'll drift his expression up and away a little, giving his shoulders a small lift as he moves onto what's easier: ]
Well, you'd better get your shoes on.
My advice? Wear something on your legs. The wind gets cold when speed picks up.
And I'd avoid wearing a hat. Unless you're keen on losing it.
no subject
Very well then! [ she spins on her heel and begins to head back inside before stopping. ] I'll only be a moment! Do not think of leaving without me!
[ with that she all but sprints her way back inside and into her room, only to remerge a few minutes later in a pair of jeans and a light blue oversized sweater. an incredibly simple outfit given her general taste in clothes, notably minus her hat. ]
Alright, I am ready.
no subject
[ he considers for a moment to ride the thing a circle around the parking lot to make it seem like he left--but he decides he's teased her enough today. He'll instead spend the time checking his phone and reading today's news on the local news website. Keeping up to date with the city's goings-on and all that.
Once she returns, he'll look up and give a short, sharp whistle. ]
There you go. Look at you. Can't say I've ever seen Furina de Fontaine dress down before, but. That suits you.
[he moves to offer her a seat behind him, patting it with an open palm. ]
Your throne, madame.
Hold on tight, alright? I won't let you fall.
no subject
Well, of course it does! We may be standard in another world but my understanding of fashion has not diminished.
[ she clears her throat and tries to will the pink from her cheeks as she walks over to him, looking to the seat and then to wriothesley. ] A smaller throne than I used to sit. [ but she climbs on regardless, arms immediately coiling around his waist. ]
I shan't be letting go.
no subject
[ they could be in some sort of hellish nightmare-world, or worse, somewhere extremely primitive; forced to camp out and survive whatever wilds there were.
They were lucky to wind up somewhere so modern and... beautiful, honestly.
He gives her a crooked smile over his shoulder as she settles in--raising one hand to pat her wrist before he turns the ignition--the motorcycle rumbling loudly to life. Sorry if it's startling, Furina. ]
I sure hope not. Quick on your feet as you might be...
[ and with a kick off the ground with the leg that was holding the bike up, they're rollin' out--he'll start somewhat slow, at least, until he gets on the main road. ]
no subject
she makes a smaller noise the moment he kicks off, squeezing him as they begin to move. it's fine, she is fine, it is just like taking an aquabus except there is no water underneath them and it is a much smaller device. and they are going to be moving much faster than any aquabus has ever managed.
but it's fine! completely fine! don't mind her holding onto him as tightly as she can and keeping her eyes clamped shut for a little bit. ]
no subject
learning how to drive was easy--and it'd been worth it. As Furina holds onto him, he gets up to speed, turning the line of a few roads here and there before joining traffic. He'll aim to go along roads that have less traffic-- finally giving furina a little nudge with an arm against one of the ones around his waist. A grin on his face. ]
You can really feel the wind in your hair, can't you?
no subject
the wind in her hair? yeah she can feel it in her hair and it feels good. ]
Y-Yeah! [ it is different than breeze she used to get in her room in the palias. it is almost like─ ] It feels amazing!
UN: hikari-vi | video
....Oh Christ, did he snap from all that? Is this what it is? ]
Haha, that's a very generous offer! Are you sure you don't want anything in return?
no subject
Maybe he did snap. He doesn't know. He just looks smugly amused that Jun's the one to answer. ]
Kind of shitty to ask for something in return for this sort of holiday, isn't it. Consider it my gift to the people who helped me out when I got stuck and alienated here in Kaisou.
Paying it back, so to speak.
no subject
I suppose when you put it that way, that makes sense. It is the season of giving...
I'll try to think of some things to be delivered, if you really don't mind.
voice; un: blade
I might have some errands you can run, but you're getting paid.
[He sounds pretty worn out.]
no subject
Let me repay it a bit.
Season's right for it and whatever.
[ god if only this felt as weird as it sounded. ]
You seem exhausted, anyway.
no subject
[He sighs. He really is worn out. The camera feed is off precisely because of the bags under his eyes.]
As for why I'm tired, it's a long story. It'll definitely kill the mood.
But. If you could bring something from the forge to my home, I'd appreciate it. I don't want to send my friend; he doesn't know his way around the forge, and he's already doing so much for me.
[Also it feels fucking weird asking a god to run errands for him.]
