You know, it's funny. I've dedicated my entire life to trying to prove magic is real, but one day I just woke up and it was. It's anticlimactic.

[The elf on the other end of the screen doesn't seem incredibly animated. That is, until she pulls something out of her bag. It's a weird-looking mask. She smiles. She is absolutely enthralled by this.]

Anyway, that doesn't matter. I happened upon a store, and look what I found. Isn't it amazing? They had this too.

[She reaches out into her bag and pulls out a "scroll of wireball." She seems so happy. So proud.]

I had no idea such interesting magic existed. The me of my previous life would have loved this.

[The other woman on the feed is dressed in all black leather. She's got dark hair and eyes, in sharp contrast to what she'll eventually awaken to. There's a slight grin on her face, as if she's amused by something.]

Really? I've been dealing with this crap since high school. Guess some of us are early bloomers.

[For better or for worse. Though her expression shifts to one of...confusion?]

Hang on. You said something about a previous life. What do you mean by that?

That would've been nice. I could've refocused my research. A lot of this is going to need to be redone.

[Not that she hates it, mind you. It's just annoying.]

I lived somewhere else before being reborn here. In my previous life, I was a mage. Here, I was reborn as a human. The ears are new.

[She blinks. Yeah, okay, this is a way more interesting conversation topic than the other one, so she's just going to focus all her brain power on it. At least for the moment.]

...did this have anything to do with having weird memories?

Yes. I've spent the last several years of my life doing research, so I'm well-acquainted with most theories on magic. Given the consistency and pervasiveness of the memories, I can only surmise they're memories of another life.

Have you had anything similar?

Apparently something in the background got kicked hard enough to leave a dent? Yeah, she's not exactly happy about this news. She was hoping it was nothing important. Regardless, she's probably getting some dirty looks from people around after that little outburst, but she doesn't seem to mind it too much.]

Yeah, and they've been nothing but a headache! [And she means that literally.] I can't make out any of it.
