WHO: Ardyn + open
WHERE: Libra
WHEN: 11/25ish
WHAT: A proper introduction~
WARNINGS: None except Ardyn being insufferable.
My, I do hope this fine city remains half as exciting as this past month has been. I haven't had quite so much fun in ages.
[One would think someone in such a perfectly kept black suit wouldn't be otherwise so unbelievably scruffy, but leave it to Ardyn Izunia to defy expectations at every turn.]
Well--I say 'exciting', but at the end of the day I'm actually a bit disappointed. It's as though I arrived to work one morning to find my favorite coworker's gone and quit. I didn't even know we could do that.
[That remark came with a smile that resembled a 'smile' far less than it did a 'sardonic smirk'.]
But, perhaps it's not been all that bad. I did find quite a lovely little sword in all that chaos. Strangest thing, I get the distinct feeling it might even be mine--it's been quite some time since I felt that level of odd familiarity.

With a coworker like you, I can’t imagine why they quit.
[Rose would also quit if Ardyn was her coworker.]
Also, your definition of fun is dreadful.

...Or tried to, at least.

[But she digresses.]
Are you sure he views you as a friend? I once had someone who was determined to call me his friend. I did not feel the same.

[…Probably.]
You said you found a sword?

... I would not attribute what's occurred this past month to being fun, ser. [Not that he knew what fun was. Not a fun bone in his body.]
'Tis clear you've been here since at least the start of it, but I do not recognize your face nor your voice.

Isn't it? I find a bit of excitement to be quite enjoyable, and the truly unexpected very difficult to come by. On both those fronts, this has already been a very fascinating endeavor.
I'm not one to stand on ceremony, so please, simply call me Ardyn.

I'll confess my own definition of the word requires work, however when events such as those of this month cause rampant destruction across the city and potentially seeing other people injured I would not count that as "excitement".
Perhaps in a literal sense, but not to be taken as anything positive.

... Because we were fortunate to have kept casualties to a minimum. People have no less been displaced in the areas that suffered the heaviest damage, such as the Entertainment District and Central Square.
Perhaps I've misunderstood something. If I may ask, how long exactly have you been here? How long ago did you arrive and from where? Do you hail from another realm or were you born in this one?

[So he can see how full of shit you are.]
Was the excitement you found, then, in the midst of the fighting or are you unable to and retreated to find safety? You speak as though you stood as a spectator to the chaos.

There was much that could have been done. [Said quietly, as if behind gritted teeth.]
The matter is regardless settled. Surely your efforts could be spared to assist with repairs and the like, but it is ultimately your choice to do so or not. Perhaps when you've recovered from the disappointment of being unable to see this co-worker of yours on a regular basis.

If that is the sort of man you are, then I advise you keep your opinions to yourself next time or you'll find yourself in worse danger than the city has been in of late.

Perhaps your favorite coworker simply found a better and higher-paying job.
