How is it the middle of the month already?

Anyway, quick update. No Zodiac had no idea about that "fishing trip" several of you went on. We've tried investigating but by the time we were aware of the issue, the realm had already disappeared. We'll continue investigating but in the meantime, we're willing to cover the cost of any trauma counselors you guys may need.

In the meantime we're still busy dealing with the usual incidents this time of year brings. We ask you, please, try to restrain openly casting magic in public areas this month. Every time it happens, we have to deal with it. If you need something to do, go visit your dead relatives or something.

Back to work. I'm already deep into overtime and I want to see my own home sometime this week. So bye.

[ Time to make herself look presentable and not like she hasn't slept properly in four days -

But Lapis is quick to answer the door when she arrives; she does look tired, despite her best attempts, but she still manages to give the other girl a soft smile. ]

Hi, Eunie. [ And she'll step a little to the side so the other girl can make her way in. ]

How're you feeling?

[ Sorry Eunie, concern always goes to others first even if she has just emerged from a murder cabin. ]

[Yeah, her best attempts weren't getting past Eunie. Lapis was a chill kind of person but there was a huge difference between being calm and being weathered to the bone like she looked here.

She spoke as she stepped inside and gave Lapis a full body scan.]

I'm fine, but. You look awful. [Leave it to Eunie to say what no one else will. It came from a place of genuine concern.]

Fuck, if I'd known I woulda done something... [She'd... she'd had enough of people she cared about dying on her. She was so... so sick of it.

So the hug she pulled Lapis into without further preamble was just as much for herself as it was for her teammate.]

[ There's only a blink at Eunie's bluntness, but Lapis doesn't look too bothered by it - she's right, after all, and so she can only sigh gently in response. ]

Ah, I was hoping I was able to cover it up a little more. [ Not much gets past the other girl, she's noticed.

Though the hug she finds herself pulled into isn't expected, and there's a moment where Lapis just... tenses in surprise. But she relaxes into it just as quickly, not hesitating to hug back tightly; she can tell Eunie needs this just as much. ]

Please don't blame yourself, nobody knew about this...

Yeah, I know... [But she still carried the weight. That feeling of failure that has crept on her like a stalker for years since the order picked her up.

The only thing keeping it back was that they were still alive somehow but fuck... The fact that she couldn't do anything about it made things worse. Goddammit, though, she'd be here for her team and her friends. She let the hug linger for as long as Lapis was comfortable but eventually pulled back, just leaving a hand on her shoulder.]

Thought Velvet was just trying to get out of our weekend or something... [She let out an aggravated sigh.] At least you're still about... thank god.

[ Those words just prompt Lapis to hug Eunie all the tighter - even if there was nothing that could be done, it was hard to shake the feeling that you could've done something. It's haunted her ever since the first night in that damn cabin.

Once Eunie pulls back, Lapis squeezes her shoulders gently before she lets go, but... Right. Velvet. Something flickers across Lapis' expression, almost pained, before her eyes drift to the side. ]

No, she wasn't... [ Should she tell her? It feels... wrong, considering this was something so personal. ] Have you spoken to Velvet at all?

[It sucked and Eunie knew that. Has for years, which is why she went right in for the hug with barely a word as she walked in. She didn't think anything of the mention of Velvet and just shook her head.]

No, haven't talked with her yet. Is she okay? [Or as okay as she could be at least.]

[ Fuck.

Lapis even curses quietly in Italian at that news, but it makes sense - if Eunie knew, she would have said something. ]

No, I... No. [ She rubs a hand against her forehead, trying to think of how to word this. ]

Something... happened in the cabin. It's not really my place to say but she was furious with me, to put it lightly. I'm assuming she still is.

[ Last time she heard her, she was screaming and banging on Jusis' door s o... ]

... That tells me a whole load of nothing and you know it.

[Said putting her hands on her hips.]

She gets pissed off at the drop of a hat, anyway. If you're acting like that something huge must've happened. [Another sigh. She'll find out sooner or later. More likely sooner.]

If it happened with you it's just as much your business y'know but... fine. You've been through a lot, so I won't make you talk about it anymore. [But she would get to the bottom of this. Eunie knew it, Lapis definitely knew it.]

I know, but it doesn't feel right for me to be the one to tell you.

[ There's no easy way to say "I was ordered to kill her brother in law and ripped her purpose from under her feet without even knowing." And what if Velvet didn't want people just knowing? This entire thing has a mess, and Lapis can feel the headache brewing already - at least the boat trip would give them space, even if Lapis was planning to go even without that fight. ]

Thank you, just... Please be there for her, okay? [ Not that she needs to tell Eunie that, but still. She fully expects the other girl to ask Velvet for details sooner or later. ]
