cafe time, as usual
was it a good thing that primals didn’t need to eat? yes. did it bring in a crazy amount of stares at him for running 18-20 hour shifts in heels without even looking tired? absolutely. please, convince him to take a single break. anything works.
he’ll always be at the counter, ready to take on the world. or at least, take on the massive amount of people ordering pumpkin spice lattes at 7 at night. gross, honestly, but it does make him the big bucks. ]
cafe time!
Mate, can you tell me what's so special about a pumpkin spice latte that near everyone seems to want one?

[ a sigh. ] I truly don't understand the appeal, but it does bring in the money needed to fund my cafe.
[ the hobby of roasting your own beans never gets cheaper. ]

[He's never tried one before, and he's a bit floored by how casually they're just. Putting sugar into everything, these days, when back in his time he killed men to get at the sugar in their hold.]
So this is your café?

[ finally, an order that wasn't that accursed pumpkin spice. sandalphon's customer service smile turned just a little more genuine at the order. at the questions, brown curls bounced slightly as he gave a nod. ]
My cafe, indeed. Raised it from the ground up, from my hometown in Rome to here. [ he wasn't really from rome, but he had to keep up appearances. ]

[He sounds a little bit floored about this. To be fair, Edward's from a time when sugar was the sort of goods that you killed men for, so hearing that it's being passed over for pumpkin spice is something of a head trip.]
It's a lovely café. I may stop by more often. [Not quite as often as at Central Perk with all its drama, but often enough.] You started this in Rome? What brought you all the way out here to Kaisou?
no subject
I don't. I prefer the bitter notes of coffee myself.
[ at the promise of a new regular, sandy can't help but smile. hopefully that's the case, given that all he wants to do was share more coffee. as for the questions... ]
A change in scenery, mainly. I wanted to meet the different people in this world.

But now with his selkie curse and the pelt hiding inside his backpack and the dread of what could happen in the full moon, the young man looks more scared than what he wants to admit as he clumsily grabs for his apron to start his shift.)

Are you alright, Jamie? You look like you've seen a ghost. [ was that a joke- ]

Slow down there. [ give him some processing time, will you? ] One thing at a time.
Now, a selkie curse?
no subject
As for what a selkie is, they are said to be supernatural beings in Scandinavian myths who can shed their seal skins on land to be humans on land and a deep yearning for the sea.
Cafe Time
So when a co-worker at the flower shop she works for did mention Cafe Millennia one day, she decides to give it a try and hopefully escape the endless drama worthy cries from those weird couch people.
So Isabela arrives at Cafe Millenia, lining up just like anyone else and hoping that the place doesn’t have dramatic couch people too. Even with her year long stay in Kaisou, she still doesn’t get why the folks in the city had a big craving for pumpkin spice latter every fall.)
no subject
Welcome to Cafe Millennia. What could I get you? [ he has a polite customer service smile on as isabela approaches the counter. he's prepared for another pumpkin spice, but still. ]

(Isa is pretty much hoping that there is some more people who wouldn’t want pumpkin spice in their drinks on this time of the year. She just can’t be the only one, right?)
no subject
Certainly. A coffee latte and a cheese Danish, coming right up.
[ the relief was written all over sandy's face. astrals, finally a break from the endless amounts of pumpkin and spice. ]
no subject
(No worries: she is very patient even with very long waits. Isa is just trying to avoid the weird pumpkin spice obsession as much as she can throughout the fall time. Even as an otherworlder living in the city for a long time, she just can’t get the locals sometimes.)
for arsenist
those are thoughts for another time. he’s preparing one of his regular’s drink- akira’s, specifically. it was around the time that he would be coming around for study time. he was just wrapping up as he hears the door bell chime. he looks up and confirms- good, that’s him. but then he looks down and-
what. ]
wings get!
but once one steps inside the cafe, there seems to be no trace of the feathers inside. how strange. but the head barista of the place, no matter what, will have a small smile and a light spring to his step. noticeable only by those closest to him- or his regulars- sandalphon is definitely in high spirits.
why is that?
he catches the eye of the person just entering, and only offers a customer service smile and a glint in his eye. ]
Welcome. What can I offer you?
