[ closed ] rite of passage, classic havoc
WHO: Lapis and Jinwoo
WHERE: Hyrule
WHEN: Late September
WHAT: They attempt the Threads of Fate sidequest, with... explosive results
WARNINGS: The dangers of the weird hand goo, but otherwise nothing!
[ The quest has been a... strange one - an odd merchant selling needles that sent people into a deep sleep, and possessed clothes. But it seemed a simple enough issue to solve as well, just track down the merchant and put together the concoction to wake the victims up. And also destroy the possessed clothes, preferably by fire. Easy. Or it should be.
For now Lapis is perched within the shade of some trees, the shadows thicker there than normal, waiting for Jinwoo's return from tracking the merchant. While she would do her best to help, anything sneaky is more his forte... While she can be quick, she's certainly more of the muscle at times. She does, at least, have her summon - a large raven - circle the other direction, to cover more ground. But it seems her friend is the first to return, the shifting of the shadows under the trees getting her to perk up; the conjuring of shadows both to allow him more shade, and also make it easier to travel through. ]
Any luck?

Any luck?

Maybe there was something to that, given Jinwoo's luck hasn't at all changed--but. Here he is anyway.
When Lapis adjusts the shadows under where she's perched, he comes up out of the shadow like he'd been made of shadows himself, moving to pull his hood up, umbrella shifting to open overhead to keep the sun out. ]
...He's been travelling down along this road.
I managed to follow him up to a point where it looks like he's going to be making camp for the night.
It used to belong to a pair of researchers, but now they're asleep and dead to the world.
[ sketchy fuck. ]

So there's a softening in her expression as he comes out of the shadow, making sure the shadows of the trees stay placed over him to give him some shade. There's a quiet hum at his words, before she pushes herself to her feet, absently dusting of her hands. ]
Hmm... Should we flank him then? If he's settling down for the night, his guard might be down.

[ which... honestly, he's not against that, but given what they know about the mission... ]
I don't quite trust him not to have put up traps by that time, however. He's absolutely a tricky man.
[ he shifts his gaze to look at how the shadows curl around him--it's comfortable, not having to be so vigilant about staying in the darkness. ]

[ The sound of a raven catches her attention, an arm reaching out for her summon to land. Considering how big the bird is, it's impressive Lapis doesn't topple over.
Though the shadowy raven seems to sulk that they weren't the one who found the merchant - huffing and turning its beak at Jinwoo. How dare he upstage them! Meanwhile Lapis just chuckles at the little tantrum, the shadows still gathered dense around Jinwoo to shield him from the setting sun. ]
Maybe we could use this little one as a distraction?

he's got a bad feeling about this guy and his weird enchantments, but. He's confident that he and Lapis can get the slip on him. ]
It's a good idea. I'd suggest using tank, but he's a bit big--the guy would see him coming right away. [ the smaller crow... ]
Maybe get him to fly in and cause a fuss. Steal some things, or try to. We can then sneak in behind him and maybe get him pinned before he has a chance to react...

Mm, I like the sound of that. And I'm sure they would like to steal a thing or two.
[ There's an affirmative caw from the bird, and it takes off from her arm to fly in the direction of the merchant. ]
You'll have an easier time sneaking in than me, and I can be ready to go on the offensive if he tries anything.
[ Pause. ] And if one of those weird enchanted clothes appear, I can set them on fire too.

Glad to hear it. I'll give you a reward later, okay? [ see, he can be reasonable. He's drawing a knife from one of those odd golden portals the Koroks had given him a while back--sleek and black with a jagged, unnatural edge. ]
Alright then.
Shall we? [ without another word, he's going to melt into the shadows, disappearing in a flicker of black smoke. When he re-appears, it's right when the crow had swooped down to grab what looked like a large coinpurse from the Merchant.
...Maybe his choice in timing was poor, because as he appears, he's... just in time for the merchant to order those weird clothing into action. And all at once, with a yelp, he's getting rushed at by a bunch of pairs of pants and some robes...
Oops. ]
