WHO: Ritsuka + anyone
WHERE: just some random street corner
WHEN: 1st of July
WHAT: Ritsuka found herself whisked away to another world? Must be Tuesday...
WARNINGS: Probably none, this time
There's a new face in town! Or at least, there's a redheaded young woman who, while not appearing particularly bewildered or confused, most definitely is spending some time looking over the surrounding buildings and cityscape. As one does when trying to figure out where one is or how to get where one needs to go. In any case, it's definitely true no one here's seen her in town before!
Should you approach, though, she'll promptly swap from that evaluating stare to a friendly grin.
"Oh, hi there! Are you from around here?"
If you're especially observant, though, you might notice a set of red marks on the back of her right hand. But that's probably not important, right? Right.

"Not quite... I think I ended up here by accident? But I can figure something out once I know what's going on."
Probably. She usually manages to muddle through somehow or another, at least.
no subject
...Though, huh. She knew people were coming...through the gates, so to speak. It didn't exactly make a ton of sense but it was something she was at least grasping among the fact that her biggest worries were jumping from 'exam week' to 'avoiding faerie curses'.
(She nailed both, heck yeah.)
But. "Oh." Oh!
"Oh....that...seems to be happening a lot here." Hm! "...I'm not actually completely sure what to do to help- this company called 'Zodiac' has information on it all, but between the self-installing app and the...last thing that happened with them, I don't really trust them with much..."
She frowns, phone already in hand as she wonders just who to get or what to do. "I might know someone... ...oh- but first...what's your name? ...I'm Yasuho," she introduces, deciding to at least try for something basic in the meantime.
no subject
"I'm Ritsuka. It's nice to meet you!"
no subject
But with serious stuff out of the way, it makes it much easier to smile and socialise! "Same..! This is a nice change of pace- ever since I started seeing that light streak up there, I haven't had a single normal meeting..! The closest one ended in determining a clip from my childhood had a curse on it..."
Sucks.
"Oh..I should probably ask if you knew about magic in the first place...I think most people coming through have some form of it? But on my end it's been a lot to take in."
no subject
Is she understanding that right?
"Oh! Yeah, I know a little bit about magecraft, I guess."
no subject
Even Yasuho seems unsure about it- to her credit, she explains why. "It isn't like there was a trigger is the thing; one day I couldn't see it, the next I could, and also my hair turned pink but apparently no one noticed that one...
[What's that? She's muttering? Don't worry about it. Now-]
I've never seen 'magecraft' as a term fictional or otherwise, but as long as there's something close that's good enough for me..! At the very least that should make things easier to swallow. I ended up seeing Oz last month...Yellow brick roads and Emerald City Oz and all...
no subject
Because yeah, that most definitely sounds like the kind of weird shenanigans that would happen in a singularity.
no subject
"I've talked to a lot who just...knew about this the whole time. Magic, I mean. Apparently the 'accessing other worlds and realities' part as easy as this is new."
Weakly, she fiddles with her phone. "I'm really not a good source for all of this- like I said I've only known magic was real for a few months as it is; everytime I think I've adjusted, something throws a curveball at me."
no subject
Ritsuka's been through this whole song and dance before. Many, many times. Often it takes talking to quite a few people before getting to someone who really knows what's going on, after all.
no subject
"Well...I haven't got a reply yet, but with any luck you won't be stuck with nothing while you're here. Considering how long others coming in have been around, it's most likely you'll at least be stuck a month. ...Hopefully there wasn't too much time sensitive where you came from..."
Or anyone too worried....thinking about this more, she's not sure what she'd do in this situation...
no subject
That said, that last comment brings up a new point.
"People are stuck here?"
no subject
"But some have made it back, which makes Zodiac pretty happy; I guess even if the name of your game is capitalism, too many other-worldly visitors is a hassle..."
no subject
Yes, this technically describes her. No, she isn't particularly worried or upset about it, at least so far. Getting thrown into other worlds unexpectedly, even losing contact with Chaldea after, that sort of thing has happened to her quite a few times now. It's always worked out in the end.
no subject
Everyone 'walks', she's just. Not aware of that quite yet.
no subject
On the other hand, Ritsuka's probably one of the few with enough experience getting sent or pulled into other worlds to be able to analyze the sensation.
no subject
Whoops.
no subject
She says that like it's no big deal. Just an inconvenience rather than something alarming.
"I guess in that way it's like falling in that you can't help it. Even if you realize what's going on, or realize before, it happens anyway."
Ritsuka might have a little experience with this sort of thing.
no subject
Wait hold on-
"...Sorry, that sounds like...you've done this before. Enough that it's...normal?"
But that can't be right. After all- "...But didn't you just get here?"
no subject
What was the simplest way to put this?
"I've been to other places, at least."
She'd be more specific, but that would require even more explanation.
no subject
Yasuho rubs her head. "Ugh- I think I'm overcomplicating this...I'm sorry I can't actually explain anything else, I just barely understand it myself."
no subject
She'd sure hope not, at least. Ritsuka wouldn't complain but she's definitely aware that her situation isn't the sort of thing anyone would want to happen.
"Anyway, if there's a lot of people from other worlds here, maybe some of them didn't know what was going on. But even if they did, that doesn't mean being able to do anything about it. It's like... if you're walking on a hill, you can change what direction you go, but it's the hill that decides if you're going up or down? You can't just walk through it to avoid going up, or walk on air to avoid going down. But this is another direction besides that."
no subject
It's not spinning of course, but the more Ritsuka explains, the more that's how it feels, and she's not even entirely sure why. Yasuho blinks as she mentally goes over each word of how the other is explaining things, trying to picture it in her head; the hill, moving along it, and so on. "I think...I get it..?"
She.. Thinks? "....so, you've put a tunnel through the hill?"
She may not have gotten it.
no subject
"Sorry, I guess that doesn't really make a lot of sense, huh?"
Though to be fair, it really is hard to explain.
"But no, making a tunnel would be like someone controlling whether or not they go to another world? Instead of not being able to help it. It's not that you don't notice something's happening, but you can't really do anything about it..."
no subject
Hmmmm...
"I do hope things can get sorted out quick for you though- I'm a little astounded that anyone can support themselves after coming in from nowhere like that."
no subject
"Oh, that part isn't too hard, if you don't mind working a bit and staying at whatever's available."
Which is to say, she's had to camp out and hunt monsters for extra supplies plenty, too.
