[The video opens on everyone's favorite catgirl (of the red variety) with something of a forced smile on her face. She tells herself she doesn't like people, not really, but the actual truth is that she's terrible at dealing with them. Especially for something like...this.]

Good afternoon. This is Rose. I've met many of you before.

[A good start! This is how people start these things, right?]

Back when I was younger, I used to tend to plants in my free time. Regrettably, as I got older and started traveling, I didn't have the time to continue. [She was busy saving the world, of course.]

Since I'll be here for the foreseeable future, I was thinking of starting a garden. There are several empty lots around the city, and I believe I've found one that's suitable.

[Go girl!!! You're killing this.]

To that end, I was wondering if anyone would like to assist me. I can't speak for everyone, of course, but I believe it would make the city more beautiful. I don't like being surrounded by all this concrete.

Where's the lot?

I found several, but the best candidate seems to be near the school PokeGO is setting up.

They're not setting it up, that's me and Waver, but they're getting space. [This is why he sounds so damn exhausted.] ...that was kinda rude, sorry. Anyway, I've been talking to the people in Undertown near the campus and I don't think anyone owns that lot, so that's good?

That is...good to know. I wasn't sure who to approach about its availability.

[She was just gonna charge in, really.]

My hope is that it's a welcome sight for the students, as well as the teachers.

[Because good lord Waver needs it.]

I'm sure we'll start planting before that, but there probably won't be anything to show off for a good while.

[ As someone who also has to travel a lot, a garden had been something Lapis didn't have much time for... So seeing this post, she can't help but be all over it. And she recognises the username as well. So this is one of the people who welcomed her before... ]

Oh, I would love to assist. I have some experience with gardening as well.

[ Her expression might make it hard to tell, but she is Very Interested. She might be sparkling a little... ]

I must admit, I was worried that no one would be interested. I am glad I have someone else joining me.

[ Oh, a smile! While it's not much, it does prompt Lapis' expression to soften just a little. ]

I can assure you that I am very interested. Though, what sorts of things are you looking to grow?

My hope was to begin with flowers.

[Gotta make the city look pretty after all.]

Admittedly, though, I'm not sure what sort would thrive here. I know what would grow well in my homeland, but not here.

Hmm... Sunflowers would be a good place to start. As long as they get enough sun, they'll grow happily enough.

[ Lapis taps a finger to her chin, the slight furrow between her brow the only indication that she's deep in thought. ]

There's also marigolds, geraniums, cosmos... There's quite a few options available.

I see.

[She's taking mental notes on the other end.]

Sunflowers sound like an excellent choice. They're extremely vibrant, so I think they'd suit the area well.

[A beat.]

Do you know where to procure the seeds?

We could go to a gardening store to get some seeds. We can also get the tools we need as well.

[ There's a pause on her end, as she thinks for a moment. ]

There will probably be some flowers that we will be able to plant right away too, depending on the kinds available.

[ So it would give the space a bit more colour now, while they wait for the other flowers to grow. ]

[Well this pings his interests]

I can help, if you need it. My father works in a flower shop and I keep my own gardens, so I'm pretty familiar with the different garden supply shops around town.

[Hey! She remembers that voice.]

I would love to have you. While I have some experience, it's all back on my home star. I'm sure there are...implements here I am unfamiliar with.

[She doesn't know what kind, but after the magic food box anything is possible.]

Fortunately, the basics of gardening tends to be the same no matter where or when you go, so I'm sure you'll have no issue adjusting.

I'm glad to hear that. Every so often here, there's something I think can't be too different from my home star, and then it is.

Mm, I can understand that. This place can be quite the culture shock if you're coming from a very different place.

[He felt that when he first moved here, and it nearly wasn't as extreme as Rose]

Alright. I am just finishing up with school so I'll have more time for awhile. When's a good time to shopping for supplies for you?

My hours at the Vogue are rather irregular, so almost any time is good for me.

[Is this what having a hobby is like? She's been stuck in adventure mode so long that she forgot how fun simple mundane tasks could be. She forgot what it was like to do things just because she enjoyed them.]

I would love to help! Spending time with plants is one of my favorite past-times.

Most of my gardening is in Stardew Valley, so it would be nice to have somewhere closer. I do have a few pots around the house too, but they don't offer as much room for roots.

[He has to be more strategic about his houseplants.]

Hmm...

Well, I'm pretty fond of clover. It doesn't take much room though, so I already have some growing at home.

Perhaps a rose bush? [Oh wait, that's her name. Uh.] Um... if you don't mind.

[It's a flower he hasn't tried yet. He'd need a much bigger planter.]

I hate the concrete, too. It's so terrible for the environment. The parts of the city that are more industrial are way hotter than the rest of the city... There's been all sorts of scientific studies about heat islands. We need more greenspace.

[Sorry nerd moment. Since Jun already offered--]

Anyway... I'm not exactly an expert, but I can be trusted not to kill a plant. At the very least, having a water spirit along can't hurt things, right? I can tell you if there's enough water underneath the property and give suggestions. And of course do a little watering when you're setting up.

I live with Jun, so that should make things convenient for you.

[She nods. Finally, someone who gets it. She does not like cityscapes, she does not.]

A water spirit, you said? [The only spirits she'd ever talked to before were the elementals in Gridania, and they were much less...tangible.]

[Sometimes you're just shoved into being an environmentalist and sometimes you're born into it.]

That's right. I'm what's called a seraph. In my past life, we seraphim lived alongside humans, although they couldn't always perceive us.

And before you ask—no, I'm not an angel. Completely different kind of divinity.

I don't know about amazing, since any water seraph could help you with this kind of thing. But it does seem like there aren't as many people with water magic here.

Don't worry. You seem too nice to be mistaken for an angel.

[The only image that comes to Rose's mind is those dreadful beasts in the First. It's probably best not to think about it.]

If anything, you remind me of an Elemental. Although, I've never seen one so tangible.

[Or kind. But, that part goes unsaid. Gridania is its own can of worms, and it's probably best she not unload that on the nice water spirit that's volunteered to help her.]

An elemental isn't too far off depending on your definition. Seraphim aren't born in the traditional sense; when there's an abundance of elemental energy, they just kind of... appear. Like after an intense thunderstorm, or near a spring. I was born a human in this life, though.

[He's pleased at the thought of handling another gardening project. Because of Jun, he's taken more of an interest in botany himself.]

I've never gardened before, but I'd love to try. It sounds like it could be enjoyable. What do you plan on planting?

I'm not entirely sure yet. I've been here for a year, but I'm still not completely accustomed. I'm happy to take any suggestions.

Maybe... some carnations? My friend and roommate loves them, so they were the first to spring to mind.
