Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for May!
OOC Housekeeping
- The Zodiac Network Post will go up May 1st, with a midmonth post going up May 15th. The game wide event log & it's counterparts will go up May 4th. There will also be an optional network post on May 3rd where a character gives a heads up about stuff going down.
- If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month. For those who participated in the Gacha Goodwill this weekend, please make sure to include your purchases/donations on the AC form if they cost/gave you points!
- Speaking of, the Gacha Goodwill is open on Sundays, if you want to buy gacha items or donate unwanted regains for points. Please not that this upcoming Gacha Goodwill (4/30) will be taking place during AC time, so we ask that people check in for AC BEFORE they make any purchases.
- Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord for current players! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!
World Changes
- Ethers to restore magical energy can now be purchased at pharmacies around Kaisou!
Side quests
New Side Quests have been added for the month of May! Go ahead and sign up! If you haven't turned in quests for April gacha points, you can still do so until the end of the month! However, signing up for any April quests is now closed.
Town Events
With April Showers comes May flowers, and boy will they be all over the place this year! The weather will be extremely nice during the month of May, but app users will notice a huge surge in the amount of flowers blooming. These flowers will be popping up all over the place. While normal NPCs won't be concerned about this, PCs can definitely take this as a sign of the increasing spirit energy going on in Kaisou.
Otherwise May will be filled with the typical activities you find this time of year: there'll be a food-based festival in Blue Fish Lake park and the schools will be busy with end of year activities. While we don't have a planned mod event log for high school events, players are welcomed to create their own log that covers prom/graduation/finals if that strikes your interest!
And for those player students and trying to figure out dates, Kaisou University's finals week will be the week of May 8-13th with summer officially beginning May 14th. Meanwhile for K-12 students, their summer will begin June 1st.
Event: Free Gacha Pulls!
Since it's been awhile, we're having another free gacha 3-pull for May! This means every character has to opportunity to comment below and redeem three free pulls from the gacha. ICly, characters will run into strange flowers that will spit their gacha winnings or new abilities at them (don't think too much on it). You may comment before May starts for your gacha pulls, but they should not become ICly available until May 1st.
Please note we will only be approving gacha pulls during regain office hours (2pm - 4pm EST) and we will have a daily cap of how many we process at a time (it'll be 10-30 characters per day depending on how many mods are available during office hours). This means it may take a couple days to get your gacha results, but you will get them eventually. We thank you for your patience!
We're testing this method because we have found in the past that running free gacha is extremely labor intensive on the mod team's end (who it must be emphasized are unpaid volunteers). To give you an idea: we have 89 characters in the game right now. If they all comment, that's 267 gacha items that must be individually rolled, written up, discussed, and eventually catalogued. That is on top of all our usual mod duties that we can't put on hold. This is the real reason it's been six months since the last free gacha event! So we're hoping by testing a method that spreads out the work into more manageable pieces, it'll be feasible for us to keep running free gacha events in the future.
Plot Recap
While May's event is meant to be on the more relaxed side, we understand there are many who may not be caught up on what's going on. So first the Plot recap post has been updated to include all monthly events that have occurred up to this point along with any major events.
As for what you need to know right now:
Gate Event: Walled City 99
This month's event will be based on Stray, that game where you play as a cat! Characters will be able to explore the Walled City 99, a city that has been long deprived of sunlight and is currently populated entirely by a robot race called Companions. Help the Companions out with various tasks and work towards bringing sunlight back to their city.
Also to keep in the spirit of Stray, any characters cursed with animal-based curses will have the OPTION to be fully stuck in animal forms while in the realm even if they haven't bought the full transformation regain. Characters with more mythical monster types meanwhile can be reverted to mundane animals that are similar to their monster type (like a dragon might become an iguana). If you rather your character keeps their humanoid form, that's a-okay too!
Since this plot is relatively low in danger except for some isolated spots in the city, children characters (15 and under) will be able to go into this realm unchaperoned so long as they avoid those isolated dangerous spots! If they wander into the dangerous spots without any older characters, they'll get teleported back to Undertown.
POKEGO members will receive orders to study the flowers popping up around Kaisou, as well as try to get to know the Companions and help them out! The Black Order members meanwhile will be ordered to take some R&R this month, as they should probably do since as mentioned before, the orders will be getting more intense starting in June.
Overall, May is meant to be a chill month so players can have a breather after the intensity of the past couple months. Players are still free to have drama happened among their own characters and plan out their own smaller-scale events, but anything that'd be considered large scale enough to be game-wide and/or requires lots of mod involvement will probably be tabled for the month.
