Erm...is this some kind of phishing or crypto scam? Because you're really wasting you're time if it is, I'm broke. If you need proof, I can show you my cupboard of ramen and eggs.

[He sighs, muttering to himself anxiously]

...There's no way to explain this without sounding insane, so I'll be blunt. This whole business? [He indicates the purple scaling on his face and right arm, twitching his ears to emphasize the point.] Not makeup. People who aren't human exist, and for whatever reason, you can perceive us and all manner of other things now.

[He goes back so kneading the bread dough.]

I'm sorry say, but your life is about to get weirder from here on out.

[What?? What?? Elliot's quiet as he tries to take all this in. That isn't fake? There are people not humans? Something about weirdness and perception??]


...Excuse me, I need to see if I have any liquor left.

[He gets up, heading off screen to go search the rest of his kitchen sdfldsjk]

[With a hum and a nod, Ghaleon accepts the reaction. If anything, it's actually a bit better than what he was expecting given the general population.]

Take your time, dear. I know it's a lot. Just make sure you have some sort of snack and water to go with it, or you'll be regretting it in the morning.

[Pauses.]

...And perhaps sit down too. You wouldn't want to fall and damage anything.

I'm not drinking that much! I just need a little!

[He comes back a moment later with a very cheap looking beer. He opens the can and drinks it, making a bit of a face at the taste]

...Alright, please continue.

[Internally, Ghaleon judges the beer. Oh, not Elliot for resorting to it, considering it sounds like it's what he can afford; no, it's the companies that are willing to put out dreadful swill like that which get his judgement.

Deciding it's been kneaded enough, the dough gets covered and set aside to rise.]

I would still recommend a snack, if only to help the taste.

In any case, magic is also real. I can't demonstrate right now, but I'm sure a number of others on this app would be willing. Others seem to be covering Spirit Realms, so I'll leave that to them. If you know what the Multiverse Theory is, that is unfortunately also true.

Magic is real huh... [Just saying that sound wild, but surely Rean of all people wouldn't lie to hi-- so he just accepts it. ]

The Multiverse? Isn't that the thing they use in superhero stuff to justify all the reboots?

How in the Mother's name would rebooting what I can only assume are mechanical heroes be remotely connected to the existence of multiple worlds and versions thereof?

Superheroes aren't mechanical, I mean, most of the time. They're stories about heroes with super powers. There's some really popular superheroes they like to make a lot of movies and comics about, but every few years they'll restart their story because the writer changed or they want to do something different - which is what a reboot is.

And it's connected to multiple worlds because they will often use the concept of a Multiverse to justify any changes they make from one reboot to another. Like "In this universe spider-man is a girl instead of a boy".

[A closer comparison would probably be describing stuff to Leonardo da Vinci after he's had a couple years to befriend a sci-fi engineer, so it's both better and way, way worse--]

...By that broad definition, I would have qualified as a superhero once upon a time.

But that example does sound uncannily like the situation a couple I know found themselves in.

[Not that the drama of it hadn't been resolved well before he got there, but you learn a lot when people don't think they're within your hearing range.]

I'd have to read a few to properly confirm it, but based on your description, yes.

[A pause.]

...Is it common for superheroes to be a part of a team, or are they mostly the type to work alone?

Um...it depends on the series? Like there's a lot of solo superhero things, but when there's big team ups, it's usually treated like it's a big deal.

[ok so Elliot's knowledge of superheroes might be slightly limited to just mainstream movies]

So it's most often the equivalent of a bunch of famous people teaming up for a common goal, and only occasionally a band who almost exclusively work together. I'm guessing they tend to have cooler sounding names than "the Four Heroes" too, hm?

They tend to? But I guess people's opinions vary on that. Like the Terrific Trio is pretty close to that....then again every movie about them usually turns out terrible so maybe that has something to do with it...
