Erm...is this some kind of phishing or crypto scam? Because you're really wasting you're time if it is, I'm broke. If you need proof, I can show you my cupboard of ramen and eggs.

[He sighs, muttering to himself anxiously]

I really don't need this right now...

It's neither of those.

Just an app we can't get rid of. A lot of us have tried to yeet this thing off our phones.
missingache: ([12] And I care what people think)

[personal profile] missingache 2022-02-27 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not a malicious app, just as annoying as the FB app phones seem to come with nowadays... But this one is harder to ignore.
missingache: ([6] In an order that is new)

Yup. Doesn't even matter if you're using Apple over Android, it's dead set on staying.

Might be making you think I'm into conspiracy theories, but even switching phones might now save you from this app.
missingache: ([11] But now I’m insecure)

[personal profile] missingache 2022-03-06 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
No idea. I'm just speculating, really. Could tests it with a burner phone since those don't need personal info.
missingache: ([18] To the good old days)

[personal profile] missingache 2022-03-06 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn.

These guys have a lot of skill if they can track someone through a burner like that.

[Two months ago he would have been very "magic isn't real". Now?]

I'd rather deal with aliens over magic.
missingache: ([63] We used to play pretend)

[personal profile] missingache 2022-03-10 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'd rather pick that, too, but we don't really have much of a say.

Aliens you can at least shoot with guns and they should go down. Magic? I don't know how to fight magic.

Maybe someone here knows how to counter it... or those people that have been isekai'd here.
missingache: ([11] But now I’m insecure)

[personal profile] missingache 2022-03-16 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Isekai is the trope of someone regular being taken to a magical/fantasy/not normal like Earth world and they have to survive and try to find a way home.

Except I guess the people that came here are reverse-Isekai.
missingache: ([33] Where it’s coming from)

It's popular in anime, but it's an old trope that's been used in literature since before Alice in Wonderland.

[The Japanese just have a cooler word for it.]

Some of them don't really know how to use tech too well, and one of the guys I talked to got trapped in the mall for a week.
