[Honestly, it wasn't hard to find out that there were a couple of Stable Gates around the city. Checking one out didn't seem like a bad idea--if nothing else, it'd get himself used to the idea of going through these Gates.

Going alone, however, sounds like a very stupid idea.

... It really doesn't take him long to figure out who he wants to ask to go with him. He shoots a text off to Viv, asking her if she wants to join him at the park (and saying he'll be waiting at the cafe), and then sets out.

And true to his word, he'll be at the cafe, grabbing a bite to eat there... and with Viv's usual order waiting for her.]

[well, viv certainly isn't gonna turn him down. one quick affirming reply later, she's also on her way. when she arrives, she scans the cafe, smiling slightly once she spots him — and her food — and wastes no time seating herself across from him.]

[Go ahead and eat, Viv, Shio will talk.]

So, apparently a couple of the Spirit Realm Gates from the last year and change have stuck around, and turns out one of 'em's here in the park. Want to go check it out when we've finished up here?

[mehjin]

[yup, he knows her well — into it she digs. at his question, she nods, and surfaces just long enough to say:]

Sounds good.

[reignitions]

[He doesn't say it out loud, but there's a distinct look in his eye to suggest "hell yeah" as he goes back to his own food.

Once they're both done with their food, Shio grabs his drink and gets up to leave.]

Alright, apparently it's in one of the soccer fields, so let's start heading that way. I guess we'll know when we see it.

[mehjin]

[viv follows suit with a hum of assent.]

Interdimensional portal sounds like a hard thing to miss.

Yeah, no kidding.

[Lo and behold it doesn't take them long to find it at all, once they get to the soccer field. Shio lets out a low whistle as he looks up at the archway.]

Not sure what I was expecting, but I don't think this was it.

[Yes, it's blatantly out of place on the soccer field specifically, but it looks so normal otherwise...]

Yeah, I was picturing, I dunno, glowing hole in the fabric of reality, not...

[an actual gate. huh.]

Not this.

[But Shio figures the two of them can dwell on that another time. Time to do what they came here to do and head on in.

... And honestly, Shio has to stare in quiet awe for a few moments when he gets through. There's no shortage of pretty spots in Kaisou's parks and on its outskirts, sure, but it certainly doesn't compare to the field the gate lets out into. It's just so vibrant in a way he's not used to.]

[it certainly is a pretty view. picturesque, even. viv gives shio some time to drink it in — just a little, though. they'll be able to see more of the sights as they go.]

...So. Where to, then?

[she'll let him take the lead here. his idea to begin with, after all.]

[Ah. Well.]

... To be honest, I didn't have a lot in mind. We'll need to find our way back here, but... let's pick a direction that seems interesting enough.

[mehjin]

M'kay.

[she turns her gaze towards the horizon, though really, she's still waiting for shio to choose.]

[After a few minutes of thought, he picks a direction and starts walking.

He pauses after a while, watching as an Skitty runs across their path.]

[viv follows shio, only to stop when he does, also watching the little cat pass.

she lets out a small hum. how cute.]
