WHO: Moxxie and you!
WHERE: Undertown for the open prompt, then Jun's apartment complex and the warehouse for the closed prompts
WHEN: Throughout March
WHAT: Moxxie getting fish for the open prompt (then frying fish and trying to clear out a warehouse for the closed prompts)
WARNINGS: N/A
[The Rainbow Connection – Open]
Guess who has the time to keep following a rainbow until he gets to the end? This guy.
Sure, he has no idea why the rainbows are there or what's going on, but he can definitely see that they look a lot closer than most rainbows do, and he's heard the stories about leprechauns and the pot of gold, so he figures...why not? He could use the cash now that Crowley, the guy who was starting up a business that Moxxie was working at, no longer remembers that he is not, in fact, a possum.
He is keeping in mind this time that he can, in fact, ask for help, but he figures he might as well try for some gold to see if he can delay that, right?
Then, after a few hours of searching, he finally finds it. The end of the rainbow, which is in a sad, dirty little alley in Undertown. He runs up to it and, since the three foot tall pot was taller than the 2'5 imp, he reaches up and pulls himself up to see inside the giant pot of...fish? Disappointing, but Moxxie decides not to let it go to waste. After all, if nothing else it's at least free food, right? He reaches into the pot, trying to catch the fish within, but he ends up leaning in a bit too far and--
"Oh!"
Splash.
Soon he's treading water inside the pot. After a long, beleaguered sigh, he dives down, catching the fish more easily and tossing them over the edge, taking a breath each time before diving back down. Once the fish were all flopping on the pavement he begins to pull himself over the edge, climbing out of the cauldron when he spots someone near the mouth of the alley.
He's shivering, cold and dripping wet, and now he just really hopes they don't want his fish because he just did way too much to just have it taken away.
"There's no gold here. Only fish. Nothing you'd be interested in," he calls out, hoping that's enough to get them to lose interest.
He continues to try and climb out...only to slip and go crashing down to the ground.
"...ow."
[Fish Fry - Jun]
He has way more fish than he can eat, of course, but that doesn't stop him. By the time Moxxie gets home, his arms are tired and sore, and he's shivering because he's still in his soaking wet clothes, but he has plenty of fish. Of course, he also has no idea how he's going to eat this before it spoils, since at his size he really doesn't need a lot of food, but he can always share it with the cat to get rid of some of it.
On his way to his teapot, he spots Jun.
"Oh, hi! Just bringing home some fish."
Some weird golden salmon, nothing to worry about!
[Where All Your Dreams Come True - Luz]
Now that Crowley's gone, Moxxie is going to have to find a new way to make ends meet, and that's where this job comes into play. It seems fairly straightforward. Go into the warehouse, and clear out the various monsters he finds down there. He's got his guns, a ton of ammo, and his fire powers, so he feels pretty confident he can handle this.
After burning up a couple of raccoon skeletons with a few fireballs, though, something catches his eye. A tail, not unlike his own, disappearing around the corner. Moxxie races after it, peering around the edge when he sees...another imp. This one doesn't look exactly like he does, of course. This imp has small yellow horns and a pair of tiny wings that appear to be vestigial, but his skin is the same shade of red as Moxxie and they're about the same size, and while this may not be an imp from Moxxie's own world, it's still very clearly another imp.
Hearing footsteps behind him, Moxxie stops, turning to look behind him.

Sure! I'll let you pick what this one will be
Nevermind that it's the brain that lets you do anything, as well as muscles and oxygenated blood, all things skeletons lack.
"Thanks!" he says, getting behind Luz. "Apparently in my previous life I was a weapons specialist, and in this one I really enjoyed going to the shooting range before I turned into an imp."
There would be nothing more terrifying than a cheetah coming after you. They are FAST.
And boy, would they need that. When they entered the last room, there was a streak of speed that told them that their opponent was going to be very different.
"Uh. That's a cat. A BIG one."
Luz didn't sound quite so confident now. When they were hunting prey, they could be terrifying. They were very quick and deadly when they came in for the kill.

Which is a problem with projectile weapons in general. It's easier to avoid swinging a sword near people you don't want to kill than to avoid having a bullet ricochet into someone you don't want to kill. Then they reach a new skeleton. And this one is fast.
"Oh crumbs!" he says, raising his gun and firing. He misses. Then he summons up a fireball and throws that. Again, he misses. "A fast one!"
no subject
That was exactly the thing Luz was thinking about when it came to guns, and suddenly she was NOT thinking about that anymore. Fast skeletons were just a bad time!
And this one looked like it was eyeing Moxxie. Luz knew there was no choice but quick thinking or they were going to get hunted. Just as the big cat was about to launch itself, Luz froze the ground beneath the skeleton into a sheet of ice. The sudden change threw the equilibrium of the pounce off and the cat lost its footing into a sprawl, giving them a little time.
"I'm going to tie him up in vines! Think you can finish him off?"
no subject
He didn't have any more time for that discussion, though, because now there's a very fast skeleton to deal with. When Luz suggests tying the creature up in vines, Moxxie nods.
"Yeah!"
His main issue was the speed, so once it's held it place he's sure finishing it off the rest of the way should be easy.
no subject
It made sense though, if you thought about it. With all the people that were brought here, there had to be some sharp shooters in the mix.
The skeleton was already gearing up for another pounce, recovering and then sporting a low stance. Luz jumped back, but her glyph was at the ready, cast and already starting to ensnare the large feline skeleton.
It was scrambling to move out of the vines' grip, but Luz was counting on Moxxie's accuracy before she threw down another glyph.

"Well, that takes care of that. Do you want to do one last sweep to make sure we got everything?"
no subject
"Right, yay us," Luz said, at least glad that the fear they were going to get rushed by another one of those creatures was mostly gone. "I'll check on my staff, so we save some time. Should take me one minute!"
And off she goes, double checking to make sure that there were no more enemies for them to be intimidated/attacked by.
no subject
He's not too worried about being alone in this place. Since it was mostly populated by imps, he figures he can manage just fine if something else pops up.
no subject
"Scouted out. Looks like we're done here! Guess there's nothing to do but collect our reward."
Luz said it and shuddered. Gross. For some reason, she felt like a goon for hire.
"Think that things will shake out all right for those imps?"
no subject
At this point, even though he very much does want to get paid, he does think that's more important than the pay itself, after all.
"And it's probably for the best that they're leaving. If they didn't, then the guy that hired us would probably hire someone else to get rid of them, and they might not be as nice about it."
And he'd hate to think of someone coming in here and hunting them down like actual monsters.
no subject
Luz has no idea how that would even happen, but they could hope, right?
"Exactly. And they don't deserve that. We have enough times where people mistake someone for being mindless monsters with barely any proof."
no subject
He figures he's uniquely equipped to keep tabs on them, considering he's the same species.
no subject
Craziness aside, they did it!
Wrap?
You got it! See you in Moxxie's human form!
