Hi! So, you know how that weird guy in the creepy thrift store sometimes just gives you like, bags with stuff in? 'Course you do, it's a great time! You never know if you're gonna get something awesome or like. A bear. Not the fun kind. ANYhoo!! I got my usual bag-o-treats and after getting a second freaking evil notebook, like SERiously can we stop with those now? I'm never gonna steal Evil Notebook! Stop asking me to. [He's getting distracted, he clears his throat.] ANYway, along with that, I also got THIS!!!

[He pulls a baton into the frame. A baton with a gem inside it. Those in the know would recognise it as a Soul Device. Zulius, however, is not in the know, so here he is. Waving it about.]

I mean, I can FOR SURE dance with it, but!!! But!! It also does like...this? [He waves it and a blast of water shoots out of it- the water is glittery.] Also it like, vanishes into my phone??? [ Nights on No-Man's land are long and cold. The days are blazing hot in a way that can't be described--but the moment the sun went down, the air became dry and unkind to the skin, and to anyone who didn't have the privalege of a home heated by gas or fire learned to bundle up and wait it out.

The best that Vash the Stampede--once again a Wanted Criminal with millions of doubledollars on his head--chooses the warmest place he could to spend the night. The remains of a beat-up old restaurant that had been long abandoned now that the city it was in no longer had a Plant to breathe vitality into it.
That was his life, lately. Eat what he could. Run as fast as he can. Stay away from the major cities where the majority of people lived now that the world was so changed--now free of Millions Knives and those who wished to wipe out humanity.
Earth knew of the Plight of No Man's Land, now, and it'd be only a matter of time before the planet became one that thrived.

And Vash would be no part of it. Having saved the world, Noone knew the whole story of what he'd done. Only that the fight between he and his brother lasted too long, endangered the lives of too many--and they all wanted someone to blame it on. That's fine. It suited Vash fine to be the one they blamed. They were safe, and that's all he cared about.

No, that's not entirely true. There are other things to care about. The insurance girls. Livio. Wolfwood's memory, and a small apple tree were things he'd have to take care of, still.
...And of course there was

...Eve, and Dante. Zulius and Jun... Rose. Waver, Takame--

《 Who? 》

He's drifting into sleep that feels lucid. Like he's falling through space, sparkling stars passing through his fingers as he tries to wake up; tries to stop himself before he falls too far.

《 But how far? 》

The building he'd fallen asleep in had been dark--pitch dark, enough so that you could see the entire galaxy spread out in the sky just outside. And he's sure that's why his eyes suddenly ache, why there's a bright blue light that threatens to blind him.
And the touches of a ... song. One that, by instinct, he feels himself gently ... singing along to.

《 It always comes to me. That song. 》

It isn't in the dark, cold building in a forlorn, abandoned city that Vash wakes up in, but rather, the warm, bundled comfort of his own bed, in his home. His home--on Earth, not on No Man's Land. But...
His eyes fly open as it all comes back in a rush. Like a flooding of his brain, the dam between where he was and where he should have been simply breaks, and were it not for the glowing blue Plant holding onto him where he lay.

He might have thrown himself out of bed, all at once.

There are patterns dancing across Kni's face, in an odd, and yet familiar way that he can't quite recognise. His own skin almost turns pale and white under the others' touch, small, featherlike scales lifting up--under his eyes, out of his ears--until he's looking a little leafy under that glowing light.

...Unsure if the other is asleep or awake, Vash does the one thing he can think of in this moment:

He laughs. A short little unsure sound that bubbles in his chest, uncomfortably. An unamused, uncertain sound as he moves to wrap his arms around the small version of his precious brother. ]

[ he almost wants to just do this over text. But. Given what's happened, he manages to tell himself that it'd probably mean more to show his face. to show he's alive and okay and--not. dying. Having looked back to the post Kni made, he figures it's pretty important people know he's. You know. Alive.

So the image that's appearing on the screen is of one Mr. The Stampede--and while he does smile, the expression does appear to be a little hollow, a little tired. Mixed in with the fact that his hair is nearly fully black--...strangely, save for some very minor golden roots at the very base--he's not exactly looking himself.

I'm sorry if I worried anyone. Falling asleep like that and not waking up must have been pretty uncomfortable for anyone to witness. But.
...I'm okay. It was weird, but I wasn't ... here. I know I was here, but I wasn't. I think I went back home for a while. ...A long while. Once my internal clock figures itself out, I'll figure out exactly how long.

But I'm okay. I'm tired and I definitely feel like I'm made of rusty wire--and my face hurts a bit for some reason.

[The video feed pops on to Zulius' grinning face.]

Heeeeeeeey all you lovely people, guess WHAT? HAH- no I'm not gonna actually make you guess!

[He turns the camera around to show off The Vogue's bar while prancing off into the lobby too. The last time he'd done a video post, it was to show the damage the Yokai did to the place in November, but now it's back to its former glory. It's back to the usual gold trim, the santa centaurs hanging around the lobby- finally seasonally appropriate. The carousel horse is back behind the bar- and you can barely tell it was beheaded at all! The benefactor of that particular kindness is also the reason the lobby now has a pretty fancy oil painting of a ballerina in the lobby. The video might linger on that for a little longer to show it off (and because Zulius is still feeling pretty damn gay about it) before it carries on the grand tour of the rest of the space.]

LOOK at my baby!!! She's beautiful again!! Like Cinderella at the BALL! Thanks to some serious hard work and the help of a very generous person who lent me access to his people to keep things running smoothly (but who probably wants to remain anonymous because god forbid anyone finds out he's got a heart), we're back to being fully functioning again! Just in time for New Year!! Isn't it GREAT?!

So we've got a little get-together here, moooostly for the staff, but if anyone on the app wants to show up, we're not gonna kick you out- come CELebrate with us! We've got booze flowing again and Ruthie baked, like, a whole bake sale worth of baked goods for everyone. If you've never tried her Babka, you haven't lived. So come on by so we can show the old girl how much we've missed her and how GLAD we are to have her back. The Theatre. Not Ruthie. She's going nowhere.

[For those who want to come and pay The Vogue a visit, they will find the place festooned with holidays lights because it's STILL December and Zulius will be damned if he's going to miss out on the last vestiges of the holiday in his beloved theatre. Music blares out of the speakers- I Will Survive comes up MORE than once. As promised, there's plenty of booze and SO MANY CAKES AND COOKIES sitting on the bar, waiting to be eaten. Their resident grandma will feed them to you, you will have no choice. The place has finally had the dark cloud lifted from it after the last month, and Zulius, life of the party that he is, will bounce between everyone to say hi at least once. ]

[The feed turns on to a very freaked out Zulius, cantering here and there in his pink apartment in a clear panic. He has a bag slung over his shoulders and his tank with Humphrey Frogart sitting inside it under one arm, looking as dead-eyed as he always does. On the coffee table is a cat carrier- where there are t̶͈̮͕̍e̶͔͐͐̈́͝r̷̦̈́̋͋̓r̶̻͍̩̩̉͑̿͗̈́í̴͕͖b̴̡̼̳̈ḷ̸̛̈̾͘e̶̤̻̮͕̒̄̃͗̃͜ ̶̳̥̻̇̂̽n̶͈̲͔̹̗̔̓̂̈õ̵̜̬͓̞͛͋́i̶̭̘̦͓͌́s̷͚̙͑̐̂͒̐ȩ̶̠̙̠͋̑͜͠s̷̛͓̠̠͝ coming out of it. There's a lot of crashing and hollering noises coming from downstairs.

Okay, so, HEY! Quick- super quick, FYI, folks. Stay the holy hell away from the Entertainment District. IDK what the heckers is going on but it's like a rager from literal hell out there. There are so many demons and not the fun kind. Well, I mean- they're partying but it's also. Bad. Old Mrs. Morozov from across the street went out there to tell them to keep it down and I'm like 90% sure they spirited her away somewhere.

[There's more crashing downstairs, the sound of breaking glass, and Zulius winces. He's been through a lot lately, he's not even a full month away from dying and now there are fuckwads attacking his BABY. But at least his death has given him the common sense to bolt. He knows better than make a stand here.]

Anyway, yeah no. I'm outta here, we're outta here. Aljendaro is keeping them occupied but there's like a hundred of them and like, two and a half of us- [speaking of, he's running over to where Moxxie is pressed against the window, watching the demons, he scruffs his oldest friend like he's a CAT, stuffing him into his Serenitea pot] NOPE! No. I'm gonna head to Cynus if you want me- DO NOT be stupid and come here.

[He balances the Serenitea pot on his back, picks up the ANGRY cat carrier and Teleports away. The screen frizzles for a second, scrambled in the process before it focuses back as they arrive in Cygnus. Which is, thankfully, safe.]

For realsies, that place is a war zone. Please don't anybody be stupid.

I went to the new coffee shop, Central Perk, to do some work, and I think I'm bearing witness to some of the messiest group of people.

- They RESERVED the couches so no one else can sit on them. They aren't holding a meeting, they are just a group of friends hanging out. According to the staff, they do this every day.

- One of them is going through a divorce, apparently his wife was a lesbian. He is not taking it well. His friend suggested he go to a strip club to get over it.

- Another one keeps making jokes. Not the actual funny but the "haha I used edgy humor as a self-defense mechanism". Will not repeat the jokes, they are all inappropriate.

- A woman in a wedding dress ran into the shop. Turns out she knows these people. She ran away from the altar because I guess something about shoes? Or she's a shoe?

- Oh god I think the divorced guy has a thing for the runaway bride? He keeps staring at her.

- Also there's some guy dressed like a pirate with popcorn watching them too, but I think he's one of us.

I'm not sure I'm going to get any work done today.

What are the logistics of getting an off-world planet kid into school?
I've gotten my little brother to agree to enroll into some kind of education, but. It's not like I'm from this planet, and I'm not sure what the, uh. Protocol is. ...Especially given he's kind of on a college-level of intelligence despite his er, young age.

--Oh, and final note--! It's my birthday tomorrow. I'm having an all-day party at my garden where anyone who visits are the ones who get gifts. I'm gonna' be cooking lots of fresh fruit and veggie dishes, and cake. Come stop by if you want to?

[ and just as promised, on the 21st, Vash, Wolfwood, Libra, and Kni can be found on various places around the farm--the table just inside set up with an extra fold-out table and a cooler filled with ice. (Thanks to a certain someone being a walking ice-maker now, thanks Nicholas). There's three different kinds of cake, pie, as well as some rice dishes made with all sorts of different kinds of mixed vegetables.

Anyone visiting is given a basket to go pick their fill of fruit from the neighboring orchard, and anyone staying later into the night will be treated to fresh steak or sausages made over a grill by Wolfwood -- a fire set up on the sandy outcropping next to the river.

There's beer and liquor being kept on ice, and a number of animals and pokemon can be found wandering around on the farm.

Just don't ask why someone insisted on trying to put 151 candles on top of one of the cakes later in the night. ]

WHAT: Zulius comes home from his Vacay. Is distressed by all the rain
WARNINGS: ~~Nothing right now but it is Zulius so, y'know.~~ Oh god this got so cursed. So NSFW.

[Zulius had a pretty nice vacation on Fire Island. The human illusion necklace Zhongli had procured for him had worked a treat, and even if it hadn't actually changed the centaur situation, it had meant he could have a relatively few days away. He's turned the thing off now he's in the city again (mostly because he plans to give Vergil a fight with it and he doesn't want the guy to be tipped off he has it) and is humming to himself as he trots down the street, trundling his suitcase along behind him, and flipping through his phone, trying to sniff out any gossip he missed out on.

And then the deluge happens. One minute he's having a great time and the next the heavens open and he's drenched. Zulius hates getting wet. He hates it he hates it he hates it. So he lets out a banshee screech as he turns on the video feed. His mohawk is immediately and tragically deflated and he's Big Mad about it.]

Oh my goose, I go away for less than a week and everything goes to hell! What's with all the RAIN?

[He tries to squeeze some of the rain out of his mane and it catches as it crystalises. ]

OW! And what the flunk is it MADE of? How can you make rain WORSE?!!!

[You might have been enjoying a pleasant Sunday afternoon when your peace and quiet is broken by PANICKED SCREAMING coming across the network. Zulius is, of course, often pretty scream-y, so this could be mistaken for him just being enraged by someone not acknowledging he's a hottie today or that he dropped his yoghurt or something.

Except there's also a lot of GROWLING and SLAMMING going on. Like something big and angry is trying to burst through a door.]

Tiger on my roof?!!!! TIGER on my ROOF!!!!!!!

[More snarling, also the sound of claws scraping against wood. This is probably fine.]

AAAHHHHH!! Okay, so say you got a magical rock that's supposed to repel tigers, because you think HA HA it'll be funny because my past life's ex was a tigertaur and fuck that guy. But then you're doing laundry and find it in a pocket because you forgot you bought the damn thing. You just put it down and then a real tiger magically appears. What do you do about that? Asking for a friend.

[Zulius hasn't been doing SUPER since Takame's dungeon. It wasn't so much the almost dying multiple times or being stressed out about people he's begun to care about- though those have been deeply unpleasant. Being in there has opened up a door to a set of very particular memories and no matter how much he tries to block them out, they keep coming. They seep into his consciousness like tar. Which is ironic, really, given the subject of the memories in question. He's not good at dealing with Bad Things. He's been raised to push that sort of stuff deep, deep down and cover it all up with glitz and glamour. If you tell yourself to stop feeling sad for long enough you stop feeling sad, it's FLAWLESS logic. It's served him pretty well. And yet...

He's leaning on the bar at the Vogue, a bottle of scotch open beside him- a sphynx cat in a hot pink little fur coat bats a cocktail umbrella around on the bar top. Zulius is wearing the snuggie he got from the Goodwill...or at least he's wearing the torso part, the rest is draped awkwardly over his zebra body. His mane is on the frazzled side, a far cry from his usual nary-a-hair-out-of-place perfect self. He shifts uneasily, even if he tries to keep his tone airy- because it's fine. He's fine. Everything is FINE because he's not gonna let it not be fine.]

Soooooooooooooooo hi, hey. Random Q for the folks who are from this world and get memories from their past lives. I know that we're from, like, worlds that have been destroyed. Like, big sad, but I get it.

[His ears flick back, advertising the uncertainty he's not willing to show on his face.]

But has anyone had any memories that show them at like...Ground Zero? Like. When the whole world-ending thing actually happened kinda deal? I mean, I know for my fabulous self to be alive, then my past self had to be made unalive eventually, right? I get that, I can do the math. But I didn't expect this to be a "seeing how the sausage gets made" kinda situation. So yeah. Anyone else got that? Just. Checking.

[He lets out a dramatic little uggggggggggggggggggh, leaning backwards on the bar and looking at the screen upside down.]

Anyway, that's depressing. I don't do depressing. It gives you wrinkles. Who's got a funny story or decent gossip? Bonus points if it makes someone else look stupid. Gimmie something good.

Hello. Thank you for using the Libra App.

It's me again. Could you stop telling people I'm dead? I was just visiting my family out of state and I forgot to turn off the auto-post function, for crying out loud. Have none of you people ever heard of taking a vacation?

Anyway, I'm not sure what happened, but there's something going on with head honchos. They cancelled their big announcement and took the rest of the month off, citing that "they deeply regret their greed-filled actions and wish to take time to reflect". I was skeptical at first, but then they offered to increase everyone's pay and give us a better benefits package. There's even been talk of donating to charity, and not just for tax purposes. It's like all of board members had a change of heart.

Well, the surviving ones. Two of the board members died all of sudden. It was a pretty grisly way to go, black fluid started coming out of their eyes and then they keeled over. No one knows what happened, but it's got a lot of people freaked out. There's been sanitation crews and exorcisms all over the place.

Crap, I rambled. Anyway, Zodiac's going through some restructuring so if you don't hear from us for a bit that's why. And seriously you weirdos, stop saying I'm dead.
