[There were many, many things worrying here, for so short a message. The most pressing was the combination of something Waver recognized with something he didn't--what the hell was Chaldeas? He'd never so much as heard the name before, but spoken by someone unmistakably some kind of mage in tandem with the words 'Clock Tower'...]

[Something was very, very wrong.]

I am Lord El-Melloi II of the Department of Modern Magecraft. [His words were spoken with the abrupt tone of serious professionalism, eyes behind dark lenses focused sharply. Who was this, and what was he talking about?]

What involvement do you have with the Clock Tower?

Lord El-Melloi. Hmm, a name I haven't heard before. [And so serious, wow.]

My involvement is with Chaldeas, but I figured those with connections with the Clock Tower would work too.

Servant: Caster, at your service.

[But the correction was swiftly forgotten with the class name, which was about when Waver lost all color in his face.]

[Common sense told him this wasn't likely to be the only Caster he had ever been (passably) familiar with. This one didn't--at a glance--seem like the sort to-]

[He quickly cut off that line of thought before he got lost in a dark memory, shaking his head.]

Fuyuki. But one that went a little crazy and became a Singularity. The humans passed and just us Servants were left, before the Chaldean Master arrived.

That doesn't--there's been four of the damn things, 'Fuyuki', doesn't narrow it-

[Deep breath.]

This conversation might be better served in person. [he said, quietly terrified of someone who could probably blow his head off at a thought.]

[He pauses and shrugs.]

Sure. Where do you want to meet?

[He'll find Caster sitting in the same place, feeding some nearby crows. Gotta work on his army, oops.]

[Or so he insistently convinced himself. This one didn't seem completely insane, not that he'd ever seen the fourth's Caster for himself. That still left the issue of a rogue Servant, which depending on the individual could prove a serious problem.]

[As he approached Waver adjusted sunglasses to sit more securely on his face, grip white-knuckled on the cane at his side. It was fine. Almost definitely fine, and if things went wrong...well, that was a bridge to cross when he came to it.]

...I don't know what a Singularity is, and I've never heard of Chaldeas. More importantly, there's neither a Holy Grail here nor is there a war to be fought for it. You're the only Servant I know of, and I'm the only mage of the Clock Tower.

[That was a lie. But a small one, made to protect someone else.]

Doesn't seem to like his name much.

[Caster listened to his explanation, taking a moment to think about his response.]

Why would only one Servant show up to a place without a war? And only one Master.

I don't even think the summoning was done correctly.

[He shakes his head.]

I seriously doubt you were summoned conventionally. Some in this place awaken to memories of past lives in other worlds, and others such as ourselves simply arrive here. I came through an unexpected gate something like half a year ago, and it's far from the strangest thing about the location. Magic runs rampant, though not entirely in ways I would say I recognize.

[Above all else, just stay calm. At least look like he wasn't internally panicking.]

...I would ask your true name, if that's really the case. For the sake of those in this city, I want to know what Servant found himself here.

I did arrive through a maze of fire resembling Fuyuki. I've stayed quiet for a little, trying to figure out what was going on, but figured it was a good idea to ask questions.

[Hmmm. He doesn't seem problematic, so... He'll reach up and pull down the hood. Besides it's not always the most comfortable of outfits.]

[Waver blinked, then placed his sunglasses on his head to get a clearer look. Then he took his phone out of his pocket long enough to glance at the screen, realizing the username made a lot more sense now. Could it have been a lie? The possibility was there, but...it didn't quite check out. A deception like that wouldn't last long, and it would be easier to just deny to answer or outright kill him.]

[So close, and yet so far was the distant thought in his head beneath the disbelief and shock.]
