He struggles for a moment to come up with the right words for it.
I mean, sure, you can do it under a waterfall or on a rock or whatever, but it's not always about where you are. It's more about your mind frame. You need a calm, clear head in order to meditate. Kind of just get rid of all of your thoughts and worries or whatever.
He situates himself on the branch, crossing his legs.
Crossing your legs isn't necessary either but sitting in a mostly comfortable position is key. Then, you focus innerward first. Some people focus on their breathing. I usually focus on finding my center and making sure I'm sitting still. That's pretty hard for me. Once you got a hang of that, you can focus on slowly expanding outward. From there, you can either learn to pick up more things about yourself or more things about the world around you. Since you'll be using it for your powers and stuff, once you got a hang of it, you should try focusing on feeling your powers. Take your time to sort of feel them out, which should help you get a better idea of how they work, where they stem from, and once you can figure that out, you'll find you can get better control over them.
While he hasn't used this technique a lot, he does know of it. Both from his brother and from listening to Zoro, who have both used meditation to improve themselves. It doesn't work for him but it works for some of the strongest people he knows. And it was helpful for figuring out new powers, usually, or so he's heard. Maybe it'll help Danny, too.
Once he starts bobbing downwards, Luffy does his best to encourage him.

That's it! I think you're getting it!
