I'm not terribly great at meditation, I'm usually too restless for that, but it's usually pretty important when it comes to training. If panicking makes it worse, you should focus on finding your center. You'll probably want to do some meditation each day, at least for a short time, so you get in the habit of it. That way, when you actually need to use the techniques, they're second nature.

As for right now, seeing as how focusing helped you grasp my hand, why don't you focus on trying to actually sit on the branch? I've got you, I won't let you fall. If you can control that, at least a little, it might be easier for you to picture how you want to handle floating.
