Well, I was seven when I ate it. I didn't know what it was. I thought it was just a regular fruit that my friend brought back from his trip. I didn't find out I was cursed until after I ate it. It was a real pain, at first. Since I'm a pirate, not being able to swim and always being set up to drown is kind of a big deal. And it took years for me to learn my powers. But, they're pretty awesome now!

And no, I don't think so. Nobody else seems to know anything about devil fruits here, so I'm pretty sure it's just a thing where I'm from.
