Claude raises an eyebrow at that, though he looks less offended than curious. "I find magic and divinity usually have a lot less to do with each other than most people think, regardless of what the Church has to say about it," he says, watching the boy's face carefully for his reaction. What he just said would be incredibly ill-advised under most circumstances - but then again, the same goes for what he just heard. Call it a bit of a risk, but he's intrigued, and for all he knows whatever church exists in this world isn't nearly so heavy-handed as the Church of Seiros. Maybe it's not a problem at all.

"Anyway, Failnaught does have a life of its own. Usually." He glances over at the bow again, frowning at how still it is. "Since I got here it's seemed kind of... dead. Hopefully whatever's going on with it isn't permanent."

Breaking a thousand-year-old maybe-divine relic passed down through his family for generations is kind of low on the list of his sins in terms of priority right now, but he'd still feel kind of bad about it.

"Anyway, I'll keep that in mind, about it still being dangerous - and I might want to take a look at those notes, at some point. Chances are it'll all go over my head, but it sounds worth knowing."
