Luz was only going by what she saw, and it was rather limited considering what she was looking at right at the moment. With friends dying around her, Luz is finding it harder to give her undivided attention to everything.

"Xibalba?" Luz looked puzzled. "The underworld in Mayan lore?"

Luz was also a bit of a nerd, and would unfortunately NOT know that Xibalba was an actual god.

"Knife magic," Luz said, her face darkening. "That's ANOTHER thing I didn't hear about. How does that work?"
