Kanto just after sunrise was a refreshing sight. The sun had yet to climb too far into the sky, so the temperature lended itself more to a spring morning temperature. The air is crisp and chill, stinging the nose but not enough to numb it. The bird Pokemon were chirping and were your ears intune enough to nature, they could hear the greenery itself start to wake up.

The base camp is set at the intersection of Route 5 and Route 8, with portable, collapsible chairs set up around a fire with a pan over it for cooking. Blankets and other comforting items are there folded to await successful hikers no matter what point they return to camp, along with Jun and Varian's welcoming smiles.

Lycaon has provided the following homemade snacks:
-Plantain Chips
-Fruit Leather (Raspberry and White Grape kinds)
-Trail Mix
-Turkey Jerky
-Granola Bars

Jun and Varian will be providing breakfast for when they return in the form of a Crabmeat Hash, with Potatoes, Celery, Onion, Peppers, and Crab Meat topped with Fresh Eggs.

The Horizon is waiting to be caught. Your hike will be a full four hours round trip at a casual pace. Take it slow and relax, enjoy the sights and the Pokemon. You'll be done before the sun gets too high in the sky.

[Lighter is going to get Lost. This can be Lighter's personal experience Log for whatever the heck he runs into for documentation purposes.]

[The tougher part of the hike, with an incline providing a challenge to those who need it.

Note: Hugo you cannot go home but you can stay batted up inside a wolf's shirt for a nap.]

[After just overcoming that incline and making their way back, camp is in sight. The Hike is almost over, ending at 11:00 AM.

This is for anything on the way back.]

[The big breakfast everyone worked so hard for! Good job team.]

[Naturally, Lycaon would be there, as this whole thing was his careful planning an execution. Despite seeming rather composed, anyone who knew the wolf well enough could see the unbridled excitement in his eye, a sparkle twinkling in its red hue as he looks at the trail before him. It's almost puppy-like, in a way. After all, it'd been so long since he'd been in the French Countryside, where he could truly explore with wild abandon. If you look, his tail is wagging, despite his best attempts to hide it.

He seems rather dressed down for the occasion, wearing just a fitted tshirt and jeans. With his fur and cold resistance, the morning chill doesn't bother him, and he has a map of the routes provided by Jun along with certain stop points marked, as well as hazards that had been cleared out prior to the walk.

He may be offering to help you pack your things properly or just up for some chatter before you set out.

Bruno, Lycaon's Luxray, seems to be standing dutifully by his side, calmly watching the camp around them to make sure everyone does not need help preparing. If he sees you struggling with something, the lion may also wander over for assistance. Don't worry: He's very polite and well trained.]

[Eous is having a pretty regular time of it, all things considered. This little Bangboo has trudged through more dangerous routes than this, and is easily keeping up with everyone else despite having such stubby little legs.

The same cannot be said for Belle, who is lagging far behind with a backpack and a determined yet slightly agonized expression. Occasionally she has to stop, lean hard against a tree, and catch her breath.]

What if I just get Penelope out here and—no, Lycaon would worry. [She's referring to her Persona, who bears an uncanny resemblance to one of the Marionette Twins.] Urgh... [Give her a moment, she's just. Trying to catch her breath here. She's usually the one in the computer chair, not the one out in the actual Spirit Realm running around.]

[Anby has been quietly keeping tabs on Belle's progress. She notices that she's lagging behind and now is talking about persona.... which, that's a terrible idea if she's worried about energy.

It's time to implement her plan. She'll slow her walking so she's on par with the manager]

Manager, we're going to play a game. Every quarter mile, I'm going to ask a movie trivia question. For every 8 you get right, I will buy you tickets for a movie of your choosing... at the theater with the recliner chairs.

[Lycaon was the one heading the hike, but that didn't mean he intended to leave anyone behind. He knew well ahead of time that Belle would be struggling once the hike really got started, so his ears keep swiveled in her direction to listen for her. When she starts to fall further and further behind, he hands the map to Lighter to hold as he makes his way back to her. Along the way, he picks up a little twig.

This has a purpose, he promises.

When he gets to her, he's already reaching into his shoulder bag to pull out a granola bar and some water to offer her.]

You have made considerable progress since your last stop. Trust me, I know how winded it can leave you when you are not used to it.

[If you don't mind, he'll be going behind her to adjust her backpack straps.] When your straps on your pack are loose, the weight you are carrying feels so much heavier. Allow me to adjust them.

[As he does, he sets the twig on the ground, in the middle of the path.]

We can slowly catch up once you have caught your breath.

A- Before Setting Out
[Jun is hanging back at the base camp mostly to be on the safety standby, though also as a POKEGO rep. His usual labcoat is out with this crowd, so he's supporting a more casual field outfit with the POKEGO symbol on his hat, and an embroidered olive branch on his sleeves and jacket.

He'll offer a bag of supply for each hiker containing one empty pokeball, a shiny charm, a map of the route, and a spray bottle of Max Repel. He'll also explain things to any of the group that listening. ]

The route should be pretty straightforward, I did a test run through of it just a day go. If you do get lost or something comes up, contact me through the gemini app or through telepathy if you have it. As the pokemon, treat them like you would wild animals on Earth-- in other words, give then plenty of space.

Oh, and whatever you do, do not eat anything you find in the wild. Stick to the snacks Lycaon provided. If I have to call in my colleague Chanterelle because someone ate a wild mushroom, he will not be nice about it.

B- During the Hike, back at base
[Once the hikers set out, Jun opts to keep himself busy. First he helps his husband with prepping the meal ingredients for lunch, and then once that's through? He's mostly just hanging out at camp- either sketching the wildlife he sees at the camp, or simply meditating in the sun. Feel free to approach him, he's open to conversation]

[Aria stands toward the edge of the base camp, she has been looking forward to this but is still mildly overwhelmed by the amount of people that will be arriving. She is wearing bright pink matching hiking pants and hoodie from REI. She is currently holding Cersea, her shiny Shaymin, and anxiously petting the Pokemon.

Despite being one of the first ones to arrive she keeps looking around the camp while trying to work up the courage to approach someone.]

[Aria Jogs up to Belle energetically, the exercise distracting her from the anxiety of people.]

Are you okay Manager, you look out of breath? Do you need help with anything?

[She has gotten into the hike enough that she is marching in place while asking this.]

[The Date is the 10th of May, of the year 2026 CE. The time is approximately 0828 hours and 10 seconds.

Lorenzo "Lighter" Fuentes could have sworn he was following the path with his loved ones and beloved and also that one guy who hates his guts. But he felt a bit of spring in his step and went juuust a little ahead.

However, our Red Scarf wearing hero must have taken a wrong turn somewhere because he turned around and he was way too ahead. Silly mistake of him, he thought, he will take a shortcut to get back to them sooner and apologize.

That shortcut took him along an incorrect path, though, and then he suddenly saw no sign of the group.

And so we begin The Lorenzodessey.]

... Uh, guys?

[Varian's come in his field outfit as well, with the embroidered larch branch on his jacket. He was happy to get to work on preparing the ingredients for lunch, glad to be able to help out the intrepid hikers in some fashion. He's not one for hiking himself, but this? He can do.

He's glad to have his spouse's help with this, though. Capable as he is, it's pleasant to be able to do some busy work with him. He chopping at the onions on a little camping table- along with a cutting board he managed to wrangle from Meropide's kitchen. He turns to give his partner a smile as they work. ]

Y'know, this recipe of Lycaon's sounds really good. I'm tempted to give it a try for us another day if it goes well. [ He chuckles lightly. ] So- how much do you think Haru and Belle are complaining by now?

[Jun's pretty happy to have an excuse to spend a morning with his spouse, considering usually they are busy with their own jobs in the morning. So while Varian is chopping the onions, Jun is working on cutting the potatoes.]

Oh, I'd be open to that! I am pretty fond of crab. [he's certainly not going to turn down more seafood]

Let's see... Belle probably a lot but it's genuine, while Haru is probably making sad noises so Ragna will carry him.

[Having a morning together really is such a rarity, Varian plans to treasure the time they have together. Besides, it's pretty nice to be able to slow right down in a morning and enjoy one another's company while doing quiet camp tasks. ]

Mmmm, I think it'd make a really tasty meal. It doesn't look like it takes that long to make, either.

[Always a bonus for their busy lives. He laughs at the response. ]

Oh yeah, Belle will definitely find it rough, I feel for her. Haru... yeah, definitely. And after like, the second or third whine, Ragna will absolutely carry him. He'll complain about it, but he'll do it. He'll do anything for Haru with minimal persuasion.

[Jun snickers at that as he continues chopping a potato... the same potato as before.]

Oh definitely. Ragna barks a lot, but he tends to give in very easily when it involves Haru. The question is will he wind up carrying Belle too.

Still, I hope they're having a good time out there.

[Never fear, Aria, Lycaon will gladly break that ice for you. Upon seeing her on the fringes of the group, he walks over gently with a little plastic bag of snacks with her name on it, as well as a little pink ribbon to tie it.]

For you, Miss Aria. The fruit leather is raspberry as you suggested--I think you'll find it to your taste.

Thank you for accompanying us along. Might I say you are sporting both fashion and function at this outing.

Of course he does. He just doesn't want other people to know what a softie he actually is, so he's gotta make a big noise about it every time he does something nice. And I would put good money on him carrying Belle, too. Especially when he sees her legitimately struggling.

[His eyes drop to the potato, and he puts down his knife, so he can slide a hand onto his spouse's wrist, giving it a gentle squeeze. ]

Hey. [It's said in a soft murmur. ] They're going to be okay. There's a big group of them, and they're in really good hands. We're close by and they know to reach out the second anything looks dicey. And you checked the route beforehand with him, right? You both know what to expect from it. But I get being worried.

Haha, that's really true. He's the most classic example of a tsundere I've ever seen in real life.

[But aww Var, he'll pause from the potato to put his hand over Varian's giving a small squeeze back]

Thanks... though, honestly, I'm sure Haru will be fine. He was fine going off by himself to scout in Hyrule last month, and he has a good sense of when it call it quits. Plus, I think coming along on my route check helped a lot.

If it's anyone, it's Lycaon I hope is having a good time. I know he's excited about this and I want him to enjoy himself as much as possible.

A: We're on the Road to Viridian City (but not actually Viridian City)

[Harumasa didn't bring Cassie with him to Kanto, but he did find a solution to that problem after the Dan Heng situation got under control. That solution is an Audino! It can at least defend itself and he won't have to worry about Cassie's safety in comparison. Plus, Audino are supposedly highly sensitive to a person's health, so this is a perfect service Pokemon for him.

Anyway, he's in appropriate hiking gear, though his signature yellow headband and a choker remain. Against all expectations, Harumasa is wide awake this early morning. The young man double-checks his things while Tsubasa the Mimikyu sticks close to his side. His Audino is... rummaging around in a pack?

Without even looking back:]

Sybil, put the smoke bomb back right where you found it.

[There's a whine from the Audino before she reluctantly puts back presumably the smoke bomb in there.]

B: Absol-lutely Devastating

[Okay, so, Harumasa has been doing well!

... Up until halfway through Route 9.

That's when he just casually lies down after they've stopped to rest for a moment. This is unusual for him since normally he's content to just sit under a tree or on a rock if necessary, but this is the first time he just lies down like he's given up on life. Sybil worriedly starts fanning him with her little paws.]

Go on without me...! My poor, frail body can't take anymore punishment....

[Why must he say it like that, though.]

C: Attack of the Prehistoric Pokemon!

[After persuading Ragna to carry him back to base camp, it's definitely time for a break even for his highly capable boyfriend. Harumasa takes this opportunity to stretch and look around a little bit. He didn't get a chance to explore this part of the route too much when he went with Jun, so his curiosity gets the best of him. Sybil the Audino, Tsubasa the Mimikyu, and Beebee the shiny Togekiss also take this moment to chill out for a bit.

Two things then happen.

The first is that Harumasa unluckily manages to find a weak spot off the side of the road. He yells in surprise as he finds himself falling into a hole.

Luckily, something catches him!

Unfortunately, that something is an Aerodactyl.

Harumasa's yell of surprise now takes on a subtle note of fear as the prehistoric Flying/Rock-type flies out of the hole. It... doesn't seem keen to let him down onto solid ground, either. Instead, the Aerodactyl flies up into the skies above.]

HELP?!

He really is. It's so funny to see. Like, does he really think any of us buy it?

[ Bless his little heart, honestly. He tries so hard to seem like the hardass he really isn't at all. He smiles, glad to hear Jun was okay.]

That's true, and aside from the uh... dramas with Bakugou and his friend... rival???? - aside from that it seemed to go well. And at least he did have a full layout of it first, so he knows absolutely what it'd entail.

[ That is sweet, though, and Varian smiles. ]

I'm sure he will. He's put so much effort into this and I'm sure his gang will appreciate all his hard work for it. And we can make sure the camp is as set as we can so everything runs smoothly. But I want him to have a good time, too. He does so much for everyone, he deserves some fun for himself, too.

Don't just lay on the ground, idiot!

[Ragna knew Harumasa's health wasn't great so it was less the man being tired he's yelling about and more that he just flopped to the floor like a cat who just had a slice of cheese slapped onto its face.]

Sit up, damn you, you're gonna get dirt in places you didn't know you could like that. [Said sitting next to Harumiettesa over here so Ragna can be the thing to lean on if he's not gonna sit by a tree.]

Probably you can carry my bag. I'm fine, just not used to this. Ow.

[Her feet hurt so much. Give her a second to slide down against the tree to give her poor tired feet a break.]
