Carolyn reluctantly takes a stroll
Who: Carolyn and whoever she runs into
Where: Roaming throughout the city
When: Early October
What: Carolyn wandering around and socializing for once
Warnings: None
Kaisou University
[Carolyn grumbled to herself as she trudged from her dorm to to commons area after being unceremoniously kicked out of her room by her dorm mate.]
I can’t believe she kicked me out of my own dorm room, it’s only been—
[ She checks her phone.]
Good god I haven’t left the dorm in a week?! Okay, maybe she had a point. And of course that damned app is still there.
[She says to herself as she puts her phone away, continuing to ignore the virus? that has been haunting her devices, and looks at the bulletin board. Her eyes being drawn towards an advertisement for the upcoming opening of a bakery. Carolyn makes a mental note to check it out once it is open, not the most efficient source of sugar but she does enjoy baked goods on occasion. After looking at the bulletin board for a bit she decides to start wandering towards the little coffee shop on campus for some tea.]
Central Square
[Carolyn wandered down the streets without purpose, just people watching as she walked through the district. She was unsurprised when she found herself in front of Kaisou central hospital. She had been there frequently enough that she supposed that she subconsciously went to the area she was most familiar. She sat down on a bench near the front of the hospital and watched as people went in and out. She found herself wondering what reason brought the various people through those doors. Her mind drifting to her own condition as she observed the various people and emotions passing through.]
One day I will help others surpass the limits of these illness prone bodies.
Undertown
[Carolyn decided to take the forced temporary expulsion from her dorm as an excuse to pick up some more supplies. She in theory could by it online but it always took so long to get delivered and she wanted to test things now. She passed by various store fronts looking for ones that may have what she needs. As she walked the streets she mumbled her list of various pharmaceutical grade plants and chemicals. Caught in thought she was paying less attention to her surroundings than she should.]
I wonder if campus security would let me in with a bottle of pharmaceutical grade potassium?

kaisou u
Hi! Are you waiting for the seminar too? D'you wanna sit with me?
[This is coming from a girl with a set of ram's horns and a cute pink spade-tipped tail that flicks excitedly.]
Re: kaisou u
Um, Sure.
[Carolyn orders a tea from the counter and sits down with the girl. She proceeds to add enough sugar that it stops dissolving.]
You know I didn't know there was a photography thing going on today. Is that why everyone is wearing costumes and props? I must say yours are incredibly realistic, they must have cost quite a bit.
[As she says this she leans in to look closer at the girls tail.]

[March's tail flicks Carolyn in the face, teasing, before retreating. March props her cheek up on the heel of her palm, sipping from her Oreo matcha brown sugar boba tea.]
Yes, there's a photography seminar in a few minutes, but it doesn't have anything to do with costumes, really. The brochure said it was "Street Photography & Portraits" so I figured, well, why not?
[A pause.]
Also, I got the horns and the tail for free.

[Carolyn cocks her head to the side as she contemplates the impressively made tail that March has. She takes a sip of her aggressively over sweetened black tea.]
I am surprised that someone gave you such a well made prop for free, well unless you made it which is also impressive. I have no idea how you moved it so precisely, and the material felt so real.
[Carolyn starts mumbling to herself about the costs and logistics as she squints and stares at March. After a moment she stops squinting and sits up while holding out her hand]
Oh right, my dormmate always says I am awful at social niceties. I'm Carolyn.
no subject
[Gurl.]
I just move it. Sometimes it moves itself when I'm not paying attention—y'know, like how your leg jiggles when you're not really thinking about it? [She should maybe explain to this girl that this is actually a real tail. But also, March is too used to people mistaking it for a fake one at this point.]
Aw, that's all right! [She grins, bright and beaming.] I'm March 7th, but everyone just calls me March. It's nice to meet you!
no subject
It’s nice meeting you March. Has anyone ever told you that you practically radiate positivity? Wait a minute, I’m getting distracted. What do you mean it moves itself in a subconscious manner?!
[She is back to scrutinizing March’s tail. This time actually showing a modicum of restraint and respecting personal space. Her face clearly showing she is trying to work out the logistics in her head and is struggling to]
no subject
[March's tail just sways gently. She continues sipping on her boba tea, not really minding the way Carolyn is staring at her tail and clearly trying to figure out how it works.]
I mean it just does that and I don't really think about it. Like how you don't really think about tapping your fingers while you're doing it. It's an extra limb, it works like the others.
no subject
I must have misheard you, because it almost sounded like you said the tail was real. But that wouldn’t make sense. Even if a human had a tail that wouldn’t be the kind that would happen. And unless I have missed something in my studies gene therapy hasn’t gotten so far that we can grow new appendages.
[The smile is still there but her eye is also still twitching as she verbally tries to work through the logistics. Her dialogue going from talking to March to mumbling to herself as she continues to rationalize this information.]
no subject
And, yeah, it is real. It's cute, isn't it? I'm thinking tomorrow I'm going to tie loads of ribbons around it!
no subject
[Carolyns brain finally breaks at this, unable to compute what she is being told. She aimlessly drinks her tea.]
Yes it’s very cute, it suits you well. I suppose having the tail and horns is a great benefit for someone who likes taking photos. I never quite understood the appeal of selfies myself to be honest. Though I do find photos quite useful for documentation.
[Carolyns statement about selfies is very unsurprising with her clothing choices taken into account. The incredibly oversized hoodie she is wearing is so worn out that the universities logo is almost completely faded.]
