[It's Eous who passes by first, a box of movies on top of its head. When it spies Alhaitham, it doubles back and stares up at him. 'Ehn-ne ehn-na?'

A moment later, Belle comes up, panting as she carries her own box full of cassette tapes and DVDs. Somebody'd been selling off their old collection nearby, so she and Eous had taken the car out and gone to snap up as much as they could for the store. Now she says, teasing,] Hey, Eous, are you going to introduce me to your friend?

[She looks up at him, and smiles the tired smile of every small business owner.]
