WHAT: Instead of snakes on a plan why not dragons on a bus?
WARNINGS:
[ ACTION: CITY TRANSIT: "They don't mean any harm. They're just dragons being dragons." ]
[ The day starts normally enough — As normally as it had been lately. The small dragon hadn't gone away and, in fact, appeared most content to spend much of the day in Hiccup's backpack with his head peeking out occasionaly. He understood him a little more now, for better or worse, and while that was great there was other not-so-great things... Like the fun changing weather that's definitely stuck around.
But at least the dorm destruction was ruled a sprinkler malfunction and he was spared being expelled. Progress! Sort of (it also included a not-so-great long conversation with his father that made things even worse). Downside — or upside — of that was having to find a new place to stay. One conveniently, slightly-maniac friend of his father's later and at least he had that...
Though, of course, now it meant commuting between home and school. Read: An additional dilemma one he, incidentally, was trying to sleep right through at the moment. He'd found a seat closest to the back window and dropped his bag at his feet. Some existential dread settling on his shoulders as he didn't look forward to speaking to his advisor today — and had been up half the night — has him nodding off in his seat.
Maybe if he wasn't nodding off he'd be better prepared for what followed, but even the sudden honking of vehicles doesn't wake him up. It's only the sound of screeching tires and the bus lurching that stirs him awake just in time to witness a plasma ball tearing unceremoniously through the roof and the floor — barely missing hitting any of the nearby passengers. ]
— What now?
[ It's an exasperated sound, more alarmed than sturdy as he moved to stand up — only half aware of the smaller dragon that had crawled out of his bag to perch on his shoulders wings spread out. (Was he trying to protect him? Hard to say, all Hiccup knew was to stumble backwards —)
And then the perpetrator peeked his head first into the hole, ears tucked back and growl in its throat as he looked throughout the belly of the beast. For a split-second his expression changed, ears perking and mouth opening into what could be called a Toothless smile as he finds who he's looking for.
Hiccup blinked, back to the back of the bus as he paused: ]
Wait a minute, you're —
[ A recent feeling. Something he'd tucked away as just another token of the insanity he's long since been told he's plagued with — A creature with its head peeked through that's too familiar for him to ignore. But before he can say anything else, one of the other passengers decides to take a whack at the reptile sticking its head through the newly acquired sunroof. The dragon's startled at first before giving a low roar and hopping into his perceived belly of the beast. He opens his mouth to give the low siren pitch just as Hiccup managed to figure out how to move again: ]
Easy now. Easy there, bud.
[ Toothless doesn't move to attack, but he doesn't look convinced that the people in the bus are any less dangerous than they might be. Was this how you expected your public transportation to go, dear passenger? Because, certainly, to add fuel to the fire the smaller dragon seems to think it's a good idea to enter here and sits on his hind legs and give a screech, too.
So what do you do when two dragons decide to take the bus at the same time? Hiccup's trying to figure that one out, too. ]

[ Later, much late, when the news hits the stand and Hiccup has — well. He's having a day, after all, thorough police questioning included. But he'... Working on figuring things out. He's not even sure what those things are exactly, but they're there. At least when the video turns on, the evening is nice, and the two dragons seem to be playing some game of tag — Or maybe it's more like the smaller one is trying to steal the bigger's food and the bigger one bests it and laughs when it does. It certainly looks like he's laughing while the teenager who's mostly in view is scrubbing at his head starts abruptly: ]
Uh. Sorry to anyone... Everyone. About this afternoon. I don't know what's going on.
[ He relased it all in one breath, much like a deflating balloon before he turned his head slightly backwards to look at them: ]
Anyway, does anyone know where someone might find a surplus of fish? I think I'm about to be the reason all of the markets are out of them for a very long time. [ Why, yes, that is a fish pile those dragons are rummaging through. At least they're not interested in eating humans?
Hiccup shaked his head — despite his own personal problems there's one big one that's been dropped (literally) onto him he wants to figure out a way to help with: ] Does anyone have any engineering experience? Building technology? If not, how about some spare leather or metal?
I've got my work cut out for me for a while... So any help would be appreciated, thanks.
[ Behind him, there's a crashing sound and he turned abruptly — wobbles slightly — to exclaim: ] Could you quit antagonizing him? There's plenty to eat for the both of you, you know.
[ A hiss of disagreement that somehow sounded more playful than not before Hiccup heaved a sigh and picked his phone back up to turn it off for now. ]

She huddles in her seat, trying to make herself as small as possible and just hoping and praying the creature goes away on its own.]

Also, that guy in the row behind him, the one he recognizes from one of his comp sci classes? He's got a dragon for a pet.]

[Tsukasa grabs his backpack and glances around quickly. There's unfortunately a line to get out of the bus, and he thinks he'll get shoved if he gets up, but being this uncomfortably close to everything is... well, uncomfortable. For the moment he uses his backpack as a barrier just in case there's more surprises.
Then a second dragon pokes his wedge-shaped head through the roof.]
What?!
[So this guy is a dragon tamer times TWO. That figures. Tsukasa hides behind both his seat and his backpack now, making him essentially a talking hat and set of eyes, Neighbor Wilson style.]
Hey, genius. Were you seriously gonna bring a dragon to class? What are you going to do with two?
Action
For an added bonus, he turns his head slightly to the seat she's sitting in. Ears pulled back and mouth not quite forming a frown of concern as he nosed the edge of the seat. ]

After a moment, he slowly picks up his phone and dials his father's phone number, leaving a message on the voicemail]
Hey Dad, just letting you know I'm going to be a bit late tonight, because of, uh- traffic.

Hands now suffeciently full of a small dragon he shoots the other boy a look: ]
Have you tried telling a dragon stay home when it can seem to track you down? Because if you have only then can you judge me —
[ Seriously, he tried getting rid of Sharpshot but he seemed to be able to find him in a heartbeat. It was annoying. The other dragon, though, this is new —
Hiccup lets go of Sharpshot when Toothless turns to Tsukasa, nostrils flaring. ]
Easy now, come on, I know you're scared —
[ The dragon, not the human. The human can deal for now, the dragon needs calming. Toothless only gives him an uncertain look, but doesn't back down. ]

[ That is the sound of someone who's only just getting used to the fact himself and is still half wanting to pass out. ]
Uh, the little one showed up in my dorm and ate my homework a couple weeks back... The big one just found me? I couldn't tell you why they showed up, though.

Why do you think that? Because he's a dragon? Do you eat pets just because they're smaller than you?

[ There's still some weird thoughts and feelings he's parsing through. ]
I'm engineering student, but the stuff I'm thinking about putting together isn't something I've tried before. I wanted to talk to someone about running through some plans; If not I was just going to wing it.
Action;
Is that really — You know what, yeah, that's fair.
[ He exhales just as Toothless comes to his own senses, shaking his head and pawing at the metal of the floor. Claws scratch against it as he hunches his shoulders: ]
No, no, no — Why don't we get you out of here? You don't like being stuck in a place like here, right?
[ He's not sure what he's doing anymore. He doesn't exactly have master dragon tamer senses, but at least the dragon doesn't appear to be aggressive? Protective, protective was the word he decided on (of him?). ]

[Okay, now the dragon is looking at him and Tsukasa is very much feeling like he shouldn't be here. He could teleport out easily, but he hasn't figured out how to take someone with him yet. And despite everything, he also feels like leaving Hiccup alone with a giant man-eating lizard would be kind of a dick move.
His backpack is right here. Since he's still mostly hidden behind the seat, he subtly filches something out of his backpack and holds it up. It's... a big homemade rice ball.]
Hey, big boy. Do you want some tuna onigiri? They're really good.

[He falters a bit at the next question. If that had been asked a few months ago his answer would have been an unequivocal yes, it's normal to consume things smaller than you, it being a pet doesn't enter into the equation. Unfortunately for him, he now has one small bird that he's desperately trying to keep safe from someone who would down him like a Capri Sun if he knew about his existence.
So that's a bit complicated.]
Dragons aren't pets. Dragons are wild, dangerous creatures, and unless you've got Beastkeeping magic controlling it trying to treat it as a pet is only going to be disastrous for you.
