So, something's been on my mind lately. Last year, around this time of year, things kind of went to all kinds of hell for a while. We had a couple of safe zones, but Cathedral Hill and Undertown are pretty far apart. Getting to either of 'em might not be exactly feasible, depending on where you are. Yasuho and I have been talkin', and we're thinking we want to at least set up a couple extra safehouses in case shit goes down and people can't get to either of the established safe zones. Which, you know, given the prophecy post, things aren't exactly looking rosy.

[He pauses to clean his hands off and pick up the phone.]

One of the locations for the extra safehouses is kind of obvious, here at Gen, for people in the University District. Which brings me to a couple questions-- first, what's a good place to put the other one, and second, is there anyone who knows enough about wards and such willing to help a guy who knows fuckall about it?

Yeah, that'd be a huge help. Yasuho and I are still trying to figure out where the best place to put the other safehouse would be--right now we're thinking our best bet might be somewhere in Midtown--but Gen's our for sure spot.

Yasuho and I have been thinking Midtown since it's another one of the residential districts, but that's about as far as we got.

[He puts his phone away for now.]

I figure we should probably be keeping an eye on the outside, make sure entry's cleared for anyone who needs to come in.

Makes sense. What about first aid kits and water bottles?

We'll probably need to stock up on those... preferably soon. Once we close up for the night, we should probably take inventory of what we have currently, then head out to pick up what we need by the end of the month. And extra of what we do have, budget permitting.

[Better to have too much than too little.]

We'll want to make sure there's food, too, beyond the soba. It won't keep forever after all~

Yeah, for sure. [Hmm.] We've probably got time to hit up one or two of the wholesale places around town within the next couple of days.

That's fine. I can probably get cheap loose leaf so I'm not using the good stuff to double check the monthly alarm again.

Yeah, probably for the best. Think you can start making a list of whatever you think we might need? We can compare the lists after we take inventory, once we've closed up.

Sure, I can come by after I'm finished with classes. Mid-afternoon, at the latest.

Random Play's on the lower end of Shopping Street, I can put it up as a possible safe zone. I've got entertainment for days and I can get enough supplies to last a week or two, in case something goes down.

[ Eren's still getting used to the smartphone. It had a lot of functions and options but he'll gladly learn how to use new technology if it helps with their survival. ]

Do you need another guard? I'll do what I can to help protect these safe zones.

Yeah, that'd be a huge help, actually. And if you need more supplies, I'm hitting up one of the wholesale stores in the next couple of days if you want to come with. Might as well help each other out, yeah?

Definitely wouldn't say no to more help where we can get it. Keeping the entrances clear of whatever bullshit comes knocking'll be vital.

You're right, we need to stay sharp.

[They'll likely need to restock on supplies and make sure they don't spread their resources too thin. Eren has some experience working on things like this. He's going to take this job very seriously and make sure no one gets hurt.]

Yeah. I've been setting aside money for a while to get supplies just in case something happens, and it looks like that was the right call...

You got experience with this sort of thing?

All of this. It's bullshit. We don't even know what's going to happen, just that something is.

[Eren hasn't known Shio for very long but he seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. Saving up money for supplies is smart.]

Could you tell me what happened last year?

Times like these, looking out for each other’s the best thing we can do. Of course I’ll come with!

I don’t know much about wards, but if you want I have some very sturdy locks. At the very least they’ll buy you some extra time.

Yeah. It is what it is, though. Even if it's bullshit we don't know what's coming, I'd rather have some warning than no warning.

No warning is how last year happened. We got through it, but the yokai trying to muscle in on the city took us all off-guard. Yeah, we're still standing, but the city got pretty fucked up by it all.

No warning is how we managed to have Zealots shooting up the city under the cover of fireworks back in July.

Cool, thanks. I'll be around, then. Anything I'll need to do beforehand to prep for this? Things to get the place ready or shit to have on hand for this or anything.

It's mostly just tedious, there's no particular supplies required. I mostly just need a look at the surrounding area so that I can place a few simple anchor points in locations that aren't likely to be disturbed. If you'd like to accompany me and help move things around where that might be necessary, that's more than enough help.

Yeah, it happened a bit before we busted you out. The Order team that was assigned here got sick of the higher-ups' shit and the higher-ups had their Zealots and a bunch of the robots from Meropide go after the current members, and clearly didn't give a fuck about the collateral damage.

[He clearly doesn't expect that to be a surprise or anything, though.]

And, well, you saw how well that turned out for 'em.

I've got someone handling wards, but I definitely wouldn't say no to sturdy locks. Never hurts to be prepared and all. Maybe we can see about talking to the guy doing wards for Gen so we can get those up around Random Play, too. Or see if he knows anyone else who can help with those.

You'd think they would've realized they were doing something wrong, based on how the team was acting and how the first three Zealots turned up dead, but I guess the leaders weren't called "Unyielding" for nothing. Easy to become set in your ways once you've lived long enough, I guess.
