[Deep down, once he's had time to recover from what is to come, Varian really wouldn't blame Vash for any of this. It's clear something is driving him this way - the same something that's making all the hallucinations, that dragged people into the Core... Varian's not sure if it's really Hell, but signs really are pointing that way.

He fumbles for his ARCUS - he'd dropped it in the fight and it landed way too close to the brothers - if he can get to it, he can get Seraphic Ring and get them both healed from this. Unfortunately, he's weakened and stumbling and the damn thing IS a weapon. It would be only too easy to put two and two together to make five.
It doesn't help Varian's hallucination appears again, that younger, nastier version of himself. The person he isn't anymore, standing with his hands into fists.]
