[CLOSED] POKEGO Camping Expedition

WHO: POKEGO members on the camping trip, as well as any people they pick up along the way (Ace)
WHERE: Kanto Realm
WHEN: August 30th - Early September
WHAT: POKEGO has decided to take a camping trip into the Kanto Realm to relax and welcome the newbies. It will go horribly wrong.
WARNINGS: Will add as needed.

POKEGO Camping Trip Catch-All

The weather is beautiful in the Kanto Realm, and there's Pokemon all over the place. There's also many bushes of ripe berries spread across the landscape. Be careful of eating them though, unless you want to become a Pokemon yourself.

POKEGO has decided to spend Labor Day weekend in the Kanto Realm to both have a camping trip and map out more of the region. Seems like a nice way to unwind after the last few months, right?

This is a catch-all for all the antics the POKEGO camping group will get up with before getting kidnapped by the Fae! Go ahead and post your own toplevels with your own antics. The Fae will grab them on the first of September, so they will have several days before then to do as they like.

[Whatever else you're doing, Yuuki has his headphones on. He hates this.]

Setting Up Camp

[You didn't think Yuuki was going to set up the tents himself, did you? Hell no, that's what Pod is for. He also had Pod carry most of his gear, since he is a scrawny boy with no interest in Muscle and he cannot carry most of the stuff he needs to bring here.

So while Pod is hovering around, setting up the tent, Yuuki is busy setting up a solar-powered charging station, the emergency radio, and the station for the actual cartography supplies. He can do that part, no problem.]

Outdoorsy Stuff

[Yuuki hates this. He hates this so much. He has found a rock somewhere to sit and is catching his breath. It does not matter what everyone is doing. He is out of shape and this is way too much exercise for one spicy kitten.]

Wildcard

[HMU on discord or plurk if you want something special!]

[Jun is not worn out in the slightest. But well understands very few can keep up with him. So when Yuuki moves to sit down, he'll approach him, offering a canteen of water]

Water?

[Yuuki wastes no time before taking the canteen. His is already empty.]

I'm not built for this.

I don't know, I think you're doing actually quite well.

[Yuuki kind of gives Jun a Look before glancing around. He's pretty far behind everyone else, has to stop every fifteen or twenty minutes, and has mostly resigned himself to just taking notes.]

Seriously?

[He nods!]

Maybe you're out of shape, but you're still pressing on. And there's the fact you willingly came on the trip. I can think of a few members who found excuses to get out of it.

Besides, this is supposed to be a relaxing trip. So the slower pace isn't a bad thing at all.

[one: rise and shine]

[Lucis Caelums are not morning people.

Noctis’s little indie gaming company is fully aware of this, which is why it’s something of an event when he does show up before 10 AM. He’s a hard worker otherwise, and reliable in a crisis, but god—when he naps he is asleep and cannot be awoken.

Unfortunately this carries over into camping, even in Kanto. He does not emerge from his tent despite all attempts at waking him up. Come inside, and you’ll be greeted with the sight of Noctis fast asleep, sprawled over his bedding and snoring gently.

Fluvius, Litus, and Fulgur are huddled up outside the tent. Come closer to them, and you’ll see them drawing straws. Fluvius groans when he realizes he’s drawn the shortest straw, then marches inside the tent like a man being sent on a critical mission.

Then: the sound of a Water Gun.

…followed by the sound of Noctis, in seal form, turning over and letting out a snore.]

“Oshawott!!”

[two: the great outdoors]

[After having been chivvied out of the tent and dried off so he can be human again, Noctis is helpful enough when setting up the tents—he’s had some experience with camping, clearly, though he bitches about it killing his back the whole time. But the second they’re anywhere near a lake, he walks off on his own to…set up a chair and cast out a fishing line.]

D’you think there’s any regular fish in there?

I. Daytime
[During the day, Jun is trying hard to pretend everything's normal.

He smiles at the other campers, often offering to help them anytime they're struggling. He laughs at jokes, and makes a few of his own. He's been on a few of these camping trips, so he knows the routine of these trips by now.

But there's signs there's something off. He makes no mention of what happened with the Black Order, or the mission to Asgard. Often times he goes quiet if it gets brought up. And not only that, but he seems to be going out of his way not to use his powers. There's no turning into a bird to scout ahead, no mentioning of sensing things, no using telekinesis to help carry things... none of that this time.

Even when it's time to stop and prepare a meal, despite being perfectly capable of conjuring a flame himself, he's bringing out Koukou his Fuecoco from his pokeball, trying to coax the pokemon to light the fire]

C'mon Koukou, just breath some fire on the--- no, don't look that way, that's the tent area. We don't want a repeat of that.

II. Nighttime
[When it reaches nighttime and people start to turn in for a night, that's when Jun drops the social act and starts keeping to himself more. He'll slip away, opting to find the nearest large tree he can climb up in and sit in while he mulls over his thoughts.

It's not a rooftop, but hey, it'll do.]

One of the first things PUPS did every year was take us all on a camping trip. I hated it then and stopped going after a couple of years, but it's only right that I make Noct go on one.

[Also there were heavy implications that he really, really should do this if he wants to be taken seriously as a mentor this one time. He may have just been imagining that, though, there was a lot of "are you sure" and "we're paying extra attention to you" going on that day.

There may also have been some small fondness for POKEPUPS despite his dislike of camping. It was the only thing good in his life back in Japan.]

...even if he is going to sleep through most of it.

[Yuuki just watches this going on. When it doesn't wake Noct up, he decides to do the Mentor Thing and go in to get his mentee up.

By nudging him with his foot. He has a back up plan, if this doesn't work.]

[Noctis, as a ribbon seal, slowly, balefully cracks one eye open as the foot-nudging manages to drag him back from sleep.]

Five minutes, Specs... [He tries to reach an arm up to cover his eyes, except his arms are flippers so all that happens is a wet little slap against blubber. He blinks, more awake now at the sound, and looks down at himself.]

—dammit, I forgot to stuff towels into the Armiger.

Get up, come on, your Pokemon already tried to get you up.

[More nudging.]

Do you turn into a seal every time you get wet?

[with a groan:] I'm up, I'm up.

[Please hold, he is very reluctantly rolling out of his wet bedroll and very reluctantly raising a black and white head. Behind Yuuki, Fluvius is crossing his arms and doing his level best to look Disappointed.

He just looks adorable instead.]

Yeah, pretty much. You learn to live with it and avoid going to water parks.

[Precious otter baby.]

Showers?

Takes some creativity.

[And that's all he'll say on the subject.]

Anyway, it's actually useful for fishing.

[He'll make an amused sound at that. Okay. Yeah, you know what? That's fair.]

Yeah... he's really quite the sleeper, isn't he? I'm a little envious how easily he can fall asleep.

Sounds like hell. Wait, you don't need help getting out of your tent, do you?

I just want to know how he sleeps through everything. I thought that stopped happening as you got older.

Eh, if you move aside I can bounce out. It's not the first time Fluvius tried to wake me up this way, I know how to move around like this.

Well, he's a selkie, isn't he? Seals have to sleep in the chaotic ocean all the time.

[Man, if Ace knew hethey were going to be out in the wilderness for this long, he would have packed a power bank or something. As it is, his phone is living on 2% and a prayer and he's about this close to seeing if pissing off one of the zappy animals he keeps seeing in the distance will give him any kind of juice.

But thankfully, it doesn't appear that he'll need to be that drastic just yet, because one of ~~the total strangers he found~~his camping buddies seems to have something that'll do the trick!]

Oh, sweet-- you have a cord that works with this, or is it wireless?

[He's just going to wiggle his phone at Yuuki while pointing at that solar charging station, a wide, relieved grin spread across his face.]

[Man.... Ace is hungry. The snacks and sandwich he shoved into his bag before heading into the gate were gone within the first hour of his hike and now... well, let's just say even the bugs are looking a little appetizing.

Which is how he finds himself at the edge of the lake, walking up to plop down on his ass next to Noctis, sadly and weakly casting his own line out into the water.

A line that, upon even a glance, seems to just be a string tied to a stick.]

Ahhhhh I hope so. I don't wanna try eating things that can talk, y'know?

[Ace says with a sigh, acting like he very well might be withering away.]

[Yeah he's just gonna move. He's got to see this.]

I think he was like this before he was a selkie. I remember devlogs where someone was talking about the programmer always napping.

[Yuuki just gives this guy a Look. How to spot the new apprentice: they're trying to talk to him with his headphones on.

He sighs and takes them off.]

It's wireless. You don't bring charging cords with so many people and Pokemon around, they'll just get lost.
