[A moment to answer questions before he carries on then-!] Oh! Not at all actually, it's quite the unique method! [At least, in the version of reality Jonathan himself came from.]
You see, typically that's very much how it functions. I actually knew of a wonderful fellow from about my own era turned in such a manner- we would share tea at the campus we both stayed at shortly before my arrival here, or at least, I had tea, he couldn't properly drink much...
But he was a fantastic fellow, and very much proof in practice that vampirism on its own is hardly a damning stain upon one's character. Regardless, there was the common belief that vampires created by such masks were undeniably evil...which, perhaps is more a matter of coorelation? Given just who it would have been applying such masks to themselves, that is.
[Anyway.] Sunlight will do the trick however- truthfully they are stronger than the typical vampire in regard to their natural defenses, but certainly not their abilities. Dio you see, had quite the mastery over the physical form, even creating ice from this, but he could no more shapeshift than the average man. Whereas the likes of say, Romania could take the form of bats, the fog itself...t'was quite the range!
[But that aside.] ...Truthfully there is quite a lot that dawned upon me about our years growing up together that I oft wonder if I am better off forgetting...but I digress.
Returning to this tale, Dio was unfortunately, very much not dead. Reduced to a mere head and a bit of his neck, certainly, but he was not dead, and as it seems, came to some rather alarming conclusions during the time that he was 'recovering'.
