CLOSED - YAHAHA

WHO: Yasuho & Ritsuka oN ANOTHER FUN ADVENTURE-

WHAT: A house tour, and a pocket expansion

Yasuho's new house is rather small. It looks, in all honesty, like it should be on a trailer bed. It's about the right length, and comes complete with a 'gooseneck' addition at one end.

Instead however, it's a proper house. It has a foundation, cementing it in place. Maybe with some serious funds and work it could be uprooted, but the point is that the house is not moving.

And honestly Yasuho is quite fine with that. It's a bit plain- the wood outside could use a touch of paint and customization, and the porch outside the entry feels empty with nothing on it. That the yard is no smaller than any typical yard only emphasizes this- the new house is something someone could probably park IN a backyard, rather than one that would have a backyard, which brings a lot of attention to the fact that it's grass and a driveway, that's it.

But it's...Hers. Somehow. It's hers, on purpose even, and Yasuho still hasn't quite gotten over that despite being here more than a week now.

...A whole week.

Yasuho sits on her stairs, a smudge of chalkboard paint still on her cheek from what she just finished. Across from the front entry of the house, there was a screen door. Behind the screen door, another door in itself- albeit completely wood instead of glass.

The dimension chalk bucket sits in front of a door that has now, after a good amount of work, been painted many times with chalkboard paint.

...So now, she waits.

"...I hope she finds the address alright..."

On the upside, while the house might be a little unassuming despite the size, Yasuho's new electric 'hippy van' sure isn't, and it'll probably catch Ritsuka's attention really easy.

Fortunately, Ritsuka does have some sense of direction. And knows how to use GPS. So she arrives more or less without incident, giving the little house a good look over as she approaches.

(Just ignore the fact that part of that probably also includes noting things like potential exits and such in case of an attack; there's some habits that once learned are hard to unlearn...)

In any case though, hoping that she does indeed have the right address, she approaches the front door to give a light knock.

Though the door is a glass one, Yasuho had the sense to set up some curtains- easy enough, even if they're definitely the kind of curtains you get from a thrift store and replace the minute it's possible.

Still, needs must, and Yasuho can be seen beaming behind the glass before the door even slides open. "Ritsuka! Hi!"

Stepping aside, she quickly lets the other in. "Here, there's uh... ...well there's not really anything in the living room right now so I've just been putting my shoes and coat around there for now..."

She has a vacuum sure, but beyond that the space under the stairway loft is...very empty. Very very empty. ~~Though on the upside, the house might be a smidge larger than the source material, if only so the stairs themselves are safer~~.

"It wasn't hard to find this place right?"

Ritsuka grins as Yasuho shows her inside.

"Need to get some furniture still, huh?"

Though, hey, chucking things in a corner on the floor can work in the mean time!

"Oh, it was fine. And the house kinda stuck out once I could see it, so..."

"And appliances...there's no fridge or anything, so that's first on the list..."

Fortunately she's got that magic insta-pot and bottled drinks, but still.

"There's actually a deck up on the roof, which was pretty impressive! Probably be better in the country than here, but it seems like it could be nice..." With a nervous smile, Yasuho hides a laugh behind a hand. "It does have uh...a pretty unique shape huh...I think this kind of thing would normally go in a trailer park actually."

Right, well. That's not quite what she called her over for, much as a house tour seems fun. Looking to her now chalkboard door, she reaches for the bucket of chalk on the counter next to it. "Anyway...I think you should see this- it'll make things a lot easier here with the dimensional gates I think. ...At least if I can figure out how to pick the gates..."

"Maybe you'll find something on sale? There seem to be a lot of them going on lately..."

This is her first time experiencing an American Christmas shopping season, and boy is it something. That said, Yasuho has Ritsuka's curiosity piqued with the chalk.

"Oh? What is it?"

"Maybe..." From the tone she's probably not sure she can afford any major appliances even with a Black Friday sale just yet though- the fact remains, she was not paying rent at her house before moving here.

If not for the Free Real Estate, she just...wouldn't have moved, really.

Pulled from her thoughts of how she'll solve that particular issue, she blinks. "Oh, right- So here, I already painted the door so that there'd be somewhere to try this...but I got this chalk from that goodwill place, and check it out."

Screen door opened, she takes out a stick of chalk- drawing it as close to the edges of the opened door/chalkboard as possible. Corner, to corner, until finally the points connect.

And a gate opens. "Ta-dah..! ...Oh I think it's going to Kanto..." she mutters, a visible wince going through her.

The less said about...that time, the better. She can still smell it. And by it, she means more than just smoke.

"It seems to pick a gate at random...I think there are three in Kaisou? That's what I got from the app anyway..." Not as if people don't talk about it after all!

And this is why Ritsuka lives in a tiny apartment and has a job, really. It's the best she can afford! Though luckily she doesn't really need all that much anyway.

But anyway, on to the magic chalk demonstration!

"Oh! So if you draw a door it becomes a door?"

"Pretty much," she confirms, reaching for the eraser to remove a smudge from the gate.

Immediately, the view fades- Yasuho reconnecting the line and revealing the Great Plateau of Hyrule instead.

"Phew. Much better," she sighs, turning around as she sets the chalk equipment back on the counter. "The door means we can keep things from wandering through the gate...and in the meantime, we can do errands, or explore...I've been trying to map Hyrule in my spare time, but right now I need to build a dragon stable actually..."

A cough. "That part wasn't why I called you though. I thought... ...well. Do you want to meet them? ...In person I mean?"

Ritsuka gives a thoughtful look at the chalk as it's erased and redrawn.

"I wonder if you could pick a gate if you drew a door matching where you wanted to go instead of a generic one..."

She's really musing out loud, though, and the question immediately has her attention.

"Oh! Your dragon?"

The answer is yes, if that wasn't obvious from the excitement in her expression.

"Yes!!" she cheers, a little more eager now.

"It's pretty mild at the plateau so as long as we have our shoes on, we can just walk through..! It's a small walk to where I picked, but not too far!"

To give time for shoes to go back on if they were removed- or if they weren't, even just to chat while they head through the gate- Yasuho explains. "I noticed anything I build using the app just disappears or falls apart if I leave...so I'm hoping that if I put something together using the ruins by hand, it'll stay put. Either way, the stables wanted nothing to do with a dragon so..."

Oops!

Yasuho looks at the gate as they pass through in any case, closing the screen door behind her. "That's a good question...maybe I can try writing in the middle before I close the circle..?"

"Oh, maybe it's because it needs the app to stick together?"

That'd make sense to her, at least.

"But building out of stuff here should work, I think. I mean, the people who live here do it, so..." A pause, as she thinks about something. "Even if they didn't let you use the stables, maybe you could hire someone here to help build something?"

"That's my best theory too...but I want to try and see what I can do for a hold over first, just so there's at least a roof over their head- it's not really snowy in this area but it does get rain..."

As they walk out of the gate, they're initially in a cave. It's just a short walk out of said cave, but it explains why Yasuho was so easily able to identify it from Kanto despite both having pretty woodsy outsides- no doubt Ritsuka remembers this cave from the first time the Hyrule Gate appeared as well.

Somehow, walking out into the cliff overlooking the plateau and the rest of the country doesn't stop being breathtaking however. Birds are chirping- a breeze is blowing.

And Yasuho of course, goes straight down the path toward the ruin of the Temple of Time. "I couldn't really go for anything right near the gate, but I might try to see if I can figure out some kind of call for them..? Like a whistle, the horses here answer to whistles pretty easy..."

"Well dragons are usually pretty smart, right?" Even the non-intelligent ones. "So I bet one could learn something like that..."

The trick would be finding a unique enough whistle that's still easy to use, probably. Not that Ritsuka's thinking that far ahead.

"It seems like it at least..."

Perhaps to that end, something pink is appearing on the horizon. Apparently well aware of when their partner is in the vicinity, there sure is a dragon flying up, up, and up over the ledge of the plateau, and proceeding to charge across it toward where the two girls are standing.

(Hit the deck !)

What, and miss the chance to see the dragon in action?

Which is to say, while Ritsuka's fully prepared to dodge if needed, she's also not terribly inclined to bother unless it is needed. Which probably says a few things about her...

The dragon swoops-

Comes in for the landing-

It is at that point Yasuho sees the shadow and shouts- "OH-"

And if Ritsuka still doesn't move they're Both being tackled but it's fine they're friendly.

"C- CHERRY...ACK..."

"Wfffh!"

"W...Well, we'll get down faster I guess...Augh..."

There are far worse things, in Ritsuka's opinion, than being tackled by a friendly dragon. That said, she is a bit tougher than she looks, so she can at least probably avoid being knocked prone or whatever.

"Does it always do this?"

She can't help laughing a little at Yasuho's predicament.

Gently, the dragon is nudged back to calm with a few strokes, Yasuho already moving to get on their back. Holding a hand for Ritsuka to join, she nods.

"Pretty much...I managed to give them a name at least, but I'm not actually sure it's made any difference on how much they listen...They just sort of...go wherever? I can kind of nudge in one direction or another at least."

Which is precisely the plan now, yes.

"Huh... Maybe needs some training, I guess?"

Not that she'd know how to go about it. That said, she doesn't need to be asked twice to ride a dragon, and it's probably obvious from how she sits that this is far from the first supernatural beast she's ridden.

"Do you think a dragon can be clicker trained..?"

This is a potentially hypothetical question. As it is, they're smart- Yasuho doesn't even say anything and their wings are spreading wide, taking them up, up into the air and then down the side of the plateau.

"OH- Oh, shoot, hang on tIGHT-"

So that much between them hasn't changed, then.

"I guess you could tr--"

Oh whoops there they go! At least while it may be her first time riding this particular dragon, Ritsuka has flown on one before, so holding on isn't a problem. Nor is she bothered by the climb and the dive. In fact, it's rather the opposite, and she's probably be cheering if not for the fact she'd been caught too off-guard to catch her breath for it.

"Huoh-hh...Hah... ...I never got used to that..."

This has naturally happened almost every time she gets out here.

"Okay, well...that makes this easy at least-" Yasuho gives the dragon a small nudge toward what looks to be a rather ruined settlement just down below, fortunately devoid of any monsters. "Down here; can you see alright from around me? A lot of the structures just needed a roof here, so I figured it would be enough for now. If they got snow it'd be another thing entirely but the temperature's pretty constant..."

Clearly she just needs to learn to enjoy it! Live in the moment and don't think about how high you are! Or something like that.

"Oh, yeah, so you need stuff for the roofs... Like wood and shingles? Or maybe thatch..."

She doesn't know how to build most of that herself, exactly, but maybe Yasuho could look it up?

"Probably..!" Her voice is a little more of a shout while they're in the air, but it's at least not as wavering as it was in Atlantis. Awww, she's adapting!

Coming to land, it's pretty easy to see what Yasuho was saying about those ruins though. Not a whole lot of roof action going on, and a whole lot of wood just...laying around.

One's conspicuously new looking, honestly. "I haven't seen anyone really selling materials for that here, but even just from the wreckage around us there's plenty of wood...plus," she adds with a grin, dismounting from the dragon, "The shelter I picked actually has a lot of roof left..! Here, I'll show you!"

When they get there, it's going to become...er. Pretty clear that the roof has a very precise hole missing.

(And did they hear giggling? ...No? ...Okay.)

One of those is definitely not like the others indeed.

"Oh, so you just have to repair it a bit more and it should be good?"

Though, hmm, that is an oddly-shaped hole to begin with...
