the expedition
On the morning of October 16th , the Jackdaw sets out from the port of Kaisou. The wind is cold and the ocean is colder, but the skies are clear and blue, and the waves whisper of adventure. On their way out of the port, the ship is greeted by several gawking tourists on other modern ships as they see a fully-equipped "museum" boat take to the waters. A few people even snap pictures. It's October and the veil is still thin, so that means that this is not only a museum ship, but it also appears to have people in costume on board. Better smile for the cameras and make sure not to cast any magic where people can see. Or do what you want. You're a pirate now.
vita aquatica
As the city of Kaisou grows smaller and smaller in the distance, those unaccustomed to the gentle (?) rocking of the boat may begin to feel regrets creeping in. Are they really prepared for a whole month at sea? They'll have certain amenities thanks to the hard work of everyone involved (including electricity via solar power and a pocket dimension to sleep in), but they're only a step above camping, really. There is no one out here to help them should something go wrong. They have only themselves and whoever they can hail on the radio, that is if it's a problem that a nearby ship can even help with.
the sea salt sky
It takes a lot to run a ship, and there isn't a lot of sailing experience in this crew. Before setting off, everyone gets introduced to the basics. The names of the masts, how to raise and lower them, and when it's best to do so. There's also the ship terminology to learn. Starboard, port side, fore and aft... It all might seem overwhelming if this is your first time at sea. To say nothing of the ocean itself. When the wind picks up, so does the pace, and the boat slices cleanly through the waves. But when things are calmer and they go slowly, the waves can be disorienting. Some people may suffer seasickness, though hopefully with some time at sea that may diminish. Sometimes flying fish or other denizens of the sea can be spotted from the deck. Massive schools of fish, whale and dolphin pods, manta rays, and flocks of seabirds are all possibilities out here, and might capture the imagination. When not needed to do basic things to keep the ship afloat, life at sea may seem monotonous. Thankfully the Libra app still works (magic!) and there's rudimentary electricity to charge phones and personal electronics, but you'd better hope you brought some reading material or thought of an exercise regimen. You can count the clouds, read the maps, learn how to navigate by the stars even. Or you can duel the seabirds for the pen they stole from you... Good luck with that one! For those who want a smoother ride, they can also spend time in the Serenitea Pot's pocket dimension. There are herbs that need to be potted/planted and seeds that need time and care to grow. Also IKEA furniture that might need put together... Basically, there's no shortage of chores to be found on the ship for those who need something to do. Hope you don't get bored easily, because it's gonna be a long four weeks. You can find a list of amenities that people have provided for the boat here .
cui-sea-ne
They may be on an 18th century ship, but that doesn't mean they're stuck eating hardtack and ship rats. The galley is well-stocked for the voyage, and has various pots and pans ready for dishing up food for a crew of under a dozen. Only about half the crew can be trusted with a stove, so they take turns cooking in shifts. One night, there might be fresh bread with stew. Another, dinner could be some form of stir fry and rice. The fishing net might catch something delicious during dawn and dusk, too, which could be used for breakfast and lunch. And then there's whatever people can coax out of the chickens in the tea dimension. Frozen vegetables and fruit, courtesy of the local chilly seraph, are also available to accent meals... as long as they're rationed properly. And let's not forget desserts. From smores to homemade ice cream, there is no lack of imagination among this crew. Using magic isn't cheating, it's survival. It's important to have a varied diet, especially at sea!
restless night waves
The crew quarters are small and a bit cramped on the boat. Basic hammocks and cots that roll with the waves, and not a whole lot of storage for personal items. For those who aren't afraid of the ocean, it may be reasonable to sleep on the boat so they can be on deck if anything happens. But if you're a little wishy washy about it, there's also IKEA furniture in the teapot dimension to sleep on. It won't be comfortable, but it will be easier to handle and probably more spacious, too, just by virtue of being a sub-dimensional house and not a room shoved in the bottom of a boat. Whoever takes the night watch will be in charge of making sure the ship stays on course while the moon is up, watching for obstacles and other ships, as well as handling any minor occurrences... Emergencies, of course, should see the captain awoken. But this is modern Earth, and it's just the ocean. What's the worst that could happen?

⬥ Each week, a new toplevel with 1-3 different SUB EVENTS will be posted. These sub events will be rolled from an encounter table. A second die will be rolled to see how much Eizen and Jinwoo's -8 bad luck will affect the trip.⬥ Feel free to post character's reactions beneath the week headers and thread around. You can also post a general top level outside of the weekly sub events, much like the format of the Cabin in the Woods horror plot.⬥ Questions can be asked on discord (ping Saffy ) or here on the OOC post.
