"Why would a king run when there's a perfectly good vassal to do the grunt work?" He smirks as Ritsuka both stands her ground and seals her fate, eyes glittering as he already has her comeuppance well in mind.

Vergil huffs at him and he almost gives him an apologetic look--though it's probably hard to apologize when you're in such a fine mood, all things considered, even if your dour friend is barely tolerating 80% of your nonsense. Truly, it boggles the mind that Gilgamesh got Vergil this far out of doors--and if Gilgamesh were a normal man, he'd probably be touched, poignant and reflective on what that might truly mean for the bond he shares with Vergil Vittore.

As it stands, however, Gilgamesh is Gilgamesh, and it makes sense when people does what he tells them to do. That's what they're supposed to do.

Vergil points at the little hiding creature--still well hidden to the king's eyes, and he makes a hum of agreement as he closes the small gap of distance between himself and Ritsuka, feigning like he's circling behind her for a better look. "Well then. It's as good of a guess as any, to bring our little wayward creature to the forefront, and so, someone must retrieve the fruit," he says, as he wraps an arm around Ritsuka and hefts her up like so many potatoes in a woman shaped bag, carrying her so that she's under the odd, third apple when he shifts his hold on her, hands on her waist.

"Rejoice, zasshu, and tuck your legs in!"

And then he does a little squat for momentum and launches Ritsuka at the branch.
