The difference between Lailah and Zhongli's secrets is that Lailah was keeping secrets for a greater purpose. Not just for the sake of the purification power, but... I imagine the people of Glenwood viewed Maotelus the same way many view the Lord. For the public to learn that either of them have limits, flaws ... even vulnerabilities? It'd truly shake a lot of people's faith, and it'd give way to malevolence. I think Lailah must've understood that.
Zhongli ... I sense no such greater purpose to his secrets. If anything, he strikes me as a person that's lost, but hasn't had the will to continue the search for his answer in a long time. His secrets are probably just because...it's easier not to say anything.
