Exactly. The last time I met a bunch of people in an underwater bubble, they put themselves down there on purpose. Makes me wonder what's really going on here.

[Amal doesn't believe in gods. Oh, sure, they might exist-- but he doesn't believe that they're all-powerful or infallible. The ones he's met were beings summoned out of desperation, hardly worth the title of 'god' at all. But he knows some people need something to believe in, so he doesn't go around refuting others' beliefs.]

What's their proof? What motives would the gods have for leaving people alive, but stowing them away in the ocean? It's very weird to me.

[He folds his arms and nods.]

Yeah, it was a lot of... 'This person defied the gods by doing this and that, and now wrath is coming down on them, so you should be faithful and devoted and do your prayers.' I still listened, though, because that's history... even if I doubt the spin they're putting on it.
