When the small boy whirls around, there is a visible change in him— in an instant, his hair goes snow white, and his eyes blood red. His lips pull back in a snarl as he growls, something closer to bestial than human and certainly not a sound a child should be making.
The child launches himself forward toward the bear, the brush machete gripped tightly in his hand.
