Entry tags:
semi-closed; cozy leisure time
WHO: Black Order members and anyone else they want to invite.
WHERE: Arcadia apartments, in the rec center!
WHEN: Forward-dated to 5/6
WHAT: While POKEGO fights over nerd shit, the Addams Family has a potluck.
WARNINGS: Language, but I'll update if there's violence over the potato salad.
[There are several long tables pushed together to accommodate a small crowd, and all are draped in crimson and gold tablecloths. Two are set up with enough space for all the dishes people are bringing. It should be an impressive spread, if only because no one wants Velvet to eat them instead of the food... There are plates and silverware on the ends, and napkins. For drinks: there's a quick boil tea kettle and a more traditional one for people who insist on having their tea a certain way, some kind of fruit punch, water, generic brand soda, and whatever else people decide to contribute.
The other two tables are for people to sit at. Someone has taken the time to fold extra napkins in a stupidly fancy way and set them as decoration. As for chairs, there are twelve and then some, just in case someone wanted to bring a friend. Unfortunately, the Black Order can't count so who knows if that will even get noticed.
It's not high class, but with all the food spread out... it sure looks tasty.]

....It's not that. I lost my sense of taste when I became a demon.
Seemed a shame to waste portions of the good foods on someone who can't taste it.

[A personal detail. Not the kind of thing that he needed to be told before taking the assignment, naturally. Of course he knew about her reputation, but that's different.]
We have plenty of food here today. You needn't worry about denying anyone anything. There is more to appreciating a meal than the flavor—smell, texture, presentation, ambiance... I'm sure you understand this, given the details of that marvelous quiche.
You may not be able to enjoy the taste as such, but your company is valuable, too.

I'm fine, really. I've been getting nutrition from meal replacement supplements the past few years, so I'm used to a lot less than some big macs.

Hmm. [He seems to be taking a measure of her stubbornness in this regard.] If that's what you prefer, I won't stop you. The younger members might miss some of your insight when it comes to cooking, however.

I already give Fugo and Ash lessons, so they get plenty of my insight. But for my own diet I rather keep it simple. It's just depressing to bite into things I used to like only to find them tasteless.

You give them lessons? [He doesn't find this funny or anything-- if anything he's intrigued and appreciative. She doesn't seem the patient type but her quiche says otherwise.] Cooking is a valuable skill in this day and age. They likely won't realize the gift it is until they are older.
[But, she does have a point.]
So it would. [And he wouldn't want to make her do anything she wasn't comfortable with.] Then perhaps you won't mind if I sit here and enjoy my tea for a little longer? I feel more like a hindrance than a help when it comes to the younger ones making friends.

[she shrugs, apathetically] Do what you want. [It is his potluck after all. ] And what? Do you mean because you're old and stuffy?
no subject
She's so blunt, though, and it's not the first time he's been called old and stuffy. He laughs, rare around these parts but warm nonetheless.]
I prefer the term 'traditional'. [He's not denying it though.]
