Un: Zodiac | It's gonna be May
WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: Libra App
WHEN: May 1st
WHAT: Zodiac Network Post
WARNINGS: None!
[The Spirit Vein in the sky shifts from oranges to dark hues of purple and black as the element dominance shift into the Shadow element. With it, the night becomes almost unnaturally dark, even the city lights seem to struggle against the inky blackness of the night. Instead of the usual blaring sound, everyone's devices will emit a soothing wind chime sound as a new Zodiac post appears. The chime will sound even if you have your phone turned off or on silent, and will not stop until you read their message and comment to it.]
Xiao, Cole, Abasi, Sara, Yuuki, Mona, Heine, Yor, Henry, Gil, Ayato, and Lapis have joined the app. Say hi everyone!

Rhel, Aki, Will, Morpheus, Crito, Grusha, Hythlodaeus, and Eda has left the app.
[The post then continues on as normal.]
Hello! Thank you for using the Libra App.
On behalf of the Zodiac Board, we'd like to issue an apology. We've become aware that for some time now, we've allowed our greed and own selfish desires to control our actions with the company and towards the people we work with. We could blame it on our board being cursed at the end of the year to turn into demons, but really all that did was intensify an already present problem. We should've been thinking about how we contribute to the people around us, not how to further line our pockets.
This will be a long road, but we wish to change Zodiac for the better. We wish to be seen as a group that you can work with, not one to be worked against. We want to make decisions that'd benefit not just the ones at the top, but the staff we employ and people such as you that we made a commitment to help. We'd like to improve our relations with the associates with the Black Order and POKEGO, both who have done a lot of great work since they arrived in our city this year.
We can't promise things will be perfect, and we can't promise you'll agree with every decision we make. We are still a company that needs to make some profits in order to keep our doors open and our employees paid. We don't expect you to trust or forgive us anytime soon, that's something we need to earn through our actions. But here's hoping that one day we can all work together towards a brighter future.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
The Zodiac Board of Directors
PS: We can't seem to remove the icebreaker question section from the code, so we're sorry about that. We'll have an expert look into it, but for now we tried to at least make it on topic.

[Users will have the option to choose their own display names and userpics if they haven't already. If nothing is chosen, the app will use their real name and a quick photo taken of them from their camera's phone. Rhel, Grusha and Will will be nowhere to be found while Eda, Morpheus, Aki, Hythlodaeus, and Crito will be around the city with no memories of the app.
Like always, there'll be no responses from Zodiac. ]

The way everyone reacted, it was like... [Real fear. Like he was a monster, almost?
Ah. Suddenly he knows what he's reminded of. The Warrior of Light with his fearsome, inhuman strength. Garlean soldiers turning tail and running... Kids scampering away from him in the snow, not wanting the help, fearing the opposite.]
... Rose, do you ever get the feeling that maybe the way we solve problems on our world isn't the way other people solve problems?
I don't like taking lives, but these were demons. I thought—I just thought... I was supposed to deal with them like we always deal with voidsent. They threatened Varian and Fern, after all. They didn't have good intentions.
So we send them back to the void realm, and if they happen to get killed permanently, then that's fine too. No one would miss them. No one would care.
... But these were still people, in the end.
[He lets out a shaky laugh.]
Look at me, feeling some semblance of regret this far in. We're made for killing. And we'll keep killing and killing and killing until something else kills us first.
no subject
I...understand.
[She sounds hesitant. She's not actually sure she should divulge this much, but it's not like anything here is a threat to their home star. It's not like there are any more threats on their home star, at least that she's aware of.]
I'm not sure I've ever mentioned it, but before I fought Ifrit--before I became a Warrior of Light--I had a relatively normal upbringing. I actually ran away from home, if you can believe it. Not because things were bad, but because I wanted to see the world.
[Is she crying? Probably not, but it's hard to tell.]
I--I wasn't prepared. For the violence, for the death, for any of it. I'd never lost anyone before, and I'd certainly never killed anyone before. I couldn't handle it. And honestly, I still can't. The nightmares still keep me up. I'd be surprised if you were any different.
[This is a hard part. She'd packed up these feelings so hard that she'd almost forgotten she'd had them in the first place.]
I don't like the killing. I don't like being a weapon. I don't like feeling that there are those who use me just to get others out of the way. But, I dislike the thought of those I love coming to harm even more.
[A genuine emotion. It's been so long since she was honest.]
You did what you had to in order to protect those closest to you. I know it's something that we tell ourselves to feel better. I know that it's us just rationalizing the decision. But at the end of the day, if had to choose between Varian and those in Zodiac, if one of them had to be harmed, isn't the choice obvious?
no subject
Oh, petal...
[The nightmares still keep me up. That part is true. The killing, though, it bothers him less than he'd like. He still hates it on principle, but things like the other day, that's what makes him stop and look at himself and wonder if he's become what he despises after all.]
Adventuring makes you grow up fast, doesn't it?
[He sighs and runs his hand through his bangs.]
You're right. You're right, I just...
[Things have really come full circle. Wasn't he the one usually telling her not to feel bad?
What matters is what you tell yourself so you can sleep at night. Nothing more, nothing less.]
... I always was shite at following my own damned advice.
[He leans his head against the wall and-- thonk.]
This world's no place for people like us, Rose. Soldiers, survivors, whatever you want to call it. Being here isn't easy. I thought I'd be keeping a part of Eorzea alive with me despite what's apparently set to happen, but... maybe all I took back with me were the bad parts.
[It occurs to him in the silence after that thought that the problem might be him. It's a fault in him. How is he supposed to show mercy? He was never shown mercy when he needed it. He rolls his amber eyes to the ceiling.]
I think... I need to step back for a while. I've been fighting nonstop since I got here except for when I fell asleep that one time. I'm starting to see the value in a long nap, that's for certain.
no subject
[She doesn't know. She doesn't know why Hydaelyn picked her as a hero, when she was always so damn shite at this.]
A long nap is good, but remember to wake up. It doesn't do to dwell in dreams and forget reality.
[Advice she could use herself, probably.]
Remember that people here care for you, myself included. Remember that there are people here who don't care what you've done in the past.
Remember that, when all of the fighting is done, you're still yourself. You're more than the mantle of the Warrior of Light.
no subject
Just knowing he's not alone is probably enough. He's no coward. Neither is she. But they've both fought alone for so long that it's no wonder they've forgotten what it was to face the things that chase them.]
Mm. Don't worry. I'm not someone who likes to sleep through the important stuff. I just need a break, and... I'm bad at taking those. I blame the Warrior of Light thing, but I'm part of the problem too.
[He breathes in through his nose slowly, one more time...]
Rose...
[He's touched, and surprised by her open admission of actually caring about him, because usually they're just the type to tease back and forth. Things must be really serious. He feels like he's on the precipice of something important.]
Hey... right back at you. You've always felt like more than a Warrior of Light to me. You're strong and fierce, and gentle where it counts. Maybe one day I can learn that gentleness, too.
