And Luz wasn't lying. Was she still recovering from the loss of someone special? Sure. But Amity had also helped to instill that Luz wasn't just going to let her own pain prevent her from doing something she'd always done, which was help people.

She was the "light" in that kind of way, to try and help people in metaphorical darkness.
