"Don't remind me," he grumbles. "They were bad enough after all the failed escapes. I don't want to see what they'll be like after a successful one."

He shrugs uncomfortably, forgetting that she couldn't see him right now.

"I... Well I've actually had the whole 'can't touch iron' for a few months now. I thought it was just another ghost thing, but turns out I was actually starting to turn into one of them before. Its why they grabbed me. And I guess some of them decided to help it along."

He had wings, now. And their kind of magic. He was trying very hard not to resent them for that. He hadn't asked for any of this, and yet here he was now. Part human, part Fae and part ghost.
